And that -1 is FULLY deserved :P

Bones to do well hopefully but realistically want either Somebody Told Me or When You Were Young to win.

10. ¡Happy Birthday Guadalupe! (feat. Wild Light and Mariachi El Bronx) - 5.22

Highest Score: Heezus Froot (10), Jonjo (7)
Lowest Score: SamJudd, Steve201 (3)

UK Chart Peak: 110
US Chart Peak: DNC

The lowest scoring song out of everything here is the bands 4th consecutive Christmas single released in 2009. As with the rest of their Christmas releases, all proceeds from this song go to AIDS charities as part of the Product Red campaign.

9. Dirt Sledding (feat. Ryan Pardey and Richard Dreyfuss) - 5.61

Highest Score: Jonjo (7)
Lowest Score: pippa (4)

UK Chart Peak: DNC
US Chart Peak: DNC

The final Christmas single released is Dirt Sledding from 2015. The song is the third and final chapter in a trilogy storyline involving a grudge-holding Santa Claus, following Don't Shoot Me Santa in 2007 and I Feel It in My Bones in 2012. I was gutted when they didn't release anything for Christmas in 2016 or 2017, but hopefully they'll return soon :(

8. Joseph, Better You Than Me (feat. Elton John and Neil Tennant) - 5.75

Highest Score: Heezus Froot (10)
Lowest Score: SamJudd (2), gavindeejay (3)

UK Chart Peak: 88
US Chart Peak: DNC

Released during the Day & Age era, this collaboration with Elton John and Neil Tennant (big names in thier own rights) talks about Saint Joseph. Brandon Flowers, Elton and Tennant take turns in describing the difficulties that he must have felt being the father of the proclaimed savior. This is a really sweet song and tbh I probably would've given it more if I was in a holiday mood :P

7. I Feel It In My Bones - 6.35

Highest Score: gavindeejay, Steve201 (8)
Lowest Score: SamJudd, Heezus Froot (5)

UK Chart Peak: 70
US Chart Peak: 41 (US Rock Songs)

Sequel to Don't Shoot Me Santa (which is still to come), released in 2012 to coincide with their Battle Born album campaign.

6. Christmas In L.A. (feat. Dawes) - 6.56 [less 9's]

Highest Score: Dexton (8.5)
Lowest Score: gavindeejay, pippa (5)

UK Chart Peak: 92
US Chart Peak: DNC

A personal Christmas favourite for me, Dawes sound brilliant here and of course so does Brandon as usual. The music video features Owen Wilson and Harry Dean Stanton, with the former spending a Christmas on his own as he struggles to "make it".

5. Joel, The Lump of Coal (feat. Jimmy Kimmel) - 6.56 [more 9's]

Highest Score: gavindeejay, Steve201 (9)
Lowest Score: pippa (4)

UK Chart Peak: 160
US Chart Peak: DNC

Probably my least favourite but still a decent Christmas song as far as they go (in terms of The Killers quality anyway :kink:)

Edited by Dexton

I don't think I've even listened to most of their Christmas singles but the ones that I have, I didn't like.

"When You Were Young" to slay the regular singles! x

Oops I meant to finish the boring christmas stuff no one cares about in May this morning :P

4. The Cowboys' Christmas Ball - 7.23

Highest Score: Jonjo, pippa (10)

Lowest Score: j80 (4), Heezus Froot (5)

UK Chart Peak: 112

US Chart Peak: DNC

A country Christmas song which takes it's lyrics from a 1890 poem of the same name. Possibly the most un-Killers sounding Christmas song they've released I think although the use of the poem is very much in their lane still. It is a bit of a bop though

3. Boots - 7.62

Highest Score: Steve201 (11), gavindeejay, SamJudd (10)

Lowest Score: dandy* (5)

UK Chart Peak: 53

US Chart Peak: 79

The first song in the rate to be given an 11! And it's a Christmas song too - not something I was expecting although deserving tbh. But then I think 90% of The Killers' discography deserves an 11/10 soooo.. :P This was their 5th Christmas single and is a bit of a historic moment for the band. This the first single to not feature their iconic neon lights logo on the cover and is Brandon's favourite Christmas single to date. He also looks objectively gorgeous in the video too.

2. Don't Shoot Me Santa - 7.79

Highest Score: Jonjo, SamJudd (10)
Lowest Score: dandy*, pippa (6)

UK Chart Peak: 34
US Chart Peak: DNC
Canada Chart Peak: 23

Their biggest Christmas single to date in terms of chart placing is Don't Shoot Me Santa which was of course the beginning of a trilogy of The Killers' songs about Santa played by Ryan Pardey. This followed by I Feel It in My Bones and then Dirt Sledding make up the trilogy which... you can watch for yourselves instead of me describing it :) (or wait until December to listen to Christmas songs like the rest of the normies)

Which means....

1. A Great Big Sled (feat. Toni Halliday) - 8

Highest Score: gavindeejay, Steve201 (10)
Lowest Score: pippa (5), dandy* (6)

UK Chart Peak: 11 (download chart)
US Chart Peak: 54

Buzzjack's favourite Killers Christmas single is A Great Big Sled! Their very first Christmas release and a staple in my household for December tunes (along with Christmas in L.A). I'm not surprised to see this come in at #1 at all, in fact I can't really argue the Top 5  Apart from swapping #5 & #6 ;)

Regular, more exciting countdown will begin tomorrow as we count down Buzzjack's Top 23 The Killers' singles! In the meantime this half-time show is brought to you by The Man himself...

NOW FOR THE GOOD STUFF

23. Peace Of Mind - 5.72

Highest Score: Iz, Jonjo (7)
Lowest Score: Steve201, Chez Wombat, dandy*, pippa, Theo., SamJudd, j80 (5)

UK Chart Peak: DNC
US Chart Peak: DNC

Coming in dead last to no ones surprised is the nothingy single (if it's even a single) released in 2016 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Sam's Town. Originally an outtake from the album which was apparently scrapped in favour of Read My Mind as the albums "mind" track. Brandon has said before that Read My Mind was the best song he'd ever written, so fair play to him for choosing the far superior song to make the albums cut :P All but three people rated this song all between 5 and 7 which was interesting - it seems to be far from anyone's favourite but at the same time far from anyone's least favourite. As middle of the road as they come

22. Shadowplay - 7.58

Highest Score: Riser (8), Iz (7.5)
Lowest Score: Steve201, Theo., SamJudd (4)

UK Chart Peak: 115
US Chart Peak: 68

A cover song released for the 2007 movie Control which later featured on their b-sides and rarities album Sawdust. It's very much a Sam's Town era song for the band and even became a staple on the setlist for the Sam's Town tour! It's definitely one of The Killers' more forgettable singles although that might just be because of how many bangers they've given to us over the years :P

Ooh I wasn't expecting to be the highest scorer for 'Shadowplay', I probably hadn't heard the song since back when it was a single but it's solid!

That is interesting that the last place song got no scores less than 5 - both the last place single and the last place Christmas song in fact!

Boots is such a lovely song and the video just gets you. Fab song and very much deserving at an 11.

21. Here With Me - 6

Highest Score: Jonjo (10)
Lowest Score: jonny (1)

UK Chart Peak: DNC
US Chart Peak: DNC

The third single from Battle Born which sadly underperformed like that entire era :( Here With Me is one of their more sentimental songs but plays nicely with the strings. The music video is brilliant though: directed by Tim Burton (!) and featuring Winona Ryder (!!) and Craig Roberts aka Rio from Tracy Beaker (!!!)

20. Just Another Girl - 6.25

Highest Score: gavindeejay (9)
Lowest Score: jonny (2)

UK Chart Peak: 83
US Chart Peak: DNC

The second new single released from their 2013 Direct Hits compilation album is yet another song with a great music video to accompany it.

Surely the scores can't be right for the lowest Xmas single? Only one score lower than it's average?

Well spotted. I made a mistake and was looking at the wrong line for checking highest & lowest scores - edited it now  ty

The next two songs are both absolutely heartbreaking..

19. A Dustland Fairytale - 6.28

Highest Score: Jonjo (9), Dircadirca (8.5)
Lowest Score: gavindeejay, Theo., Liam (4)

UK Chart Peak: 137
US Chart Peak: DNC

Fourth single from Day & Age and the most Sam's Town-y song on the album. The song is basically the story of how Brandon's parents met, his father’s triumph over alcoholism, and his mother’s battle with cancer.
Now Cinderella don't you go to sleep
It's such a bitter form of refuge
Why don't you know the kingdom's under siege
And everybody needs you
Is there still magic in the midnight sun
Or did you leave it back in sixty-one
In the cadence of a young man's eyes
Out where the dreams all hide

He is begging his mother to fight as he doesn't know what he’d do with himself without her, and he doesn’t know what his father would do with himself without her. Everyone depends on her, and and he’s hoping with all his might that his mother is able to persevere through and somehow survive.

Unfortunately, his mother lost the fight to cancer in 2010.

18. Rut - 6.33

Highest Score: Heezus Froot (9), Dexton (8.5)
Lowest Score: dandy*, Jade (4)

UK Chart Peak: DNC
US Chart Peak: DNC

*wipes tear from eye* This next song is the thrid (I think) single from the bands latest album Wonderful Wonderful and is sung from the perspective of Brandon's wife, who is affected by PTSD caused by incident that occured when she was younger. This song ultimately details the feeling of being stuck in a depressive state and the necessity of holding on to loved ones and remaining resilient. This was an instant "wow" highlight for me when I first heard and album and remains in my WW Top 3.

17. Tranquilize (feat. Lou Reed) - 6.48

Highest Score: Iz (10), Jade (9)
Lowest Score: gavindeejay, Steve201, Theo., (3)

UK Chart Peak: 13
US Chart Peak: DNC

Another Sawdust single, although surprisingly (as I didn't know :P) this was a UK Top 20 hit! Tranquilize also won the NME Best Indie/Alternative Track award in 2008. Very different rates here, ranging from 10's and 3's... although there is a song with both an 11 and a -1 to come :kink:

16. Miss Atomic Bomb - 6.64

Highest Score: SamJudd, Dexton (9), gavindeejay, Chez Wombat, Dircadirca, Jonjo, Riser (8)
Lowest Score: jonny (2), Theo., (4)

UK Chart Peak: DNC
US Chart Peak: DNC

The spiritual successor to Mr Brightside is Miss Atomic Bomb here just missing out on Top 15. This was the second single taken from Battle Born and leaves only Runaways as the remaining BB single :o Undoubtably the bands least successful album (chart wise at least) but still holds some great songs.

Tranquilize would be top three for me. It's a pity they didn't continue in that direction.

Is that Dianna Agron from Glee in the 'Just Another Girl' music video screen-grab? :o I knew she was in Sam Smith's 'I'm Not The Only One' music video but it appears that she's got around more in music videos than I thought

'Tranquilize' is such an underrated gem in their discography.

Oops at me giving half of these songs one of their lowest scores (: At least there are no major losses so far!

Yeah, it's her

'Here With Me' is so beautiful and the closest we have been to an 80's power ballad in a long, long time. I actually think that whole era is under appreciated. Maybe I'm just being biased as it was the tour that I went to (and got front row, eye and physical contact with Brandon ) but the whole album is underrated. The title track was SUCH A MOMENT live.

'A Dustland Fairytale' is amazing too. I should've just given that a 10,but I undermarked it as I thought my rates would be a bit TOO looney haha.
