This song has became a popular meme recently with it being used for the Fallout 76 trailer, but #16 will probably be it's peak
23 million people watched the penalties last night, the average audience was around 16 million... that suggests that 'Three Lions' would have a much wider appeal than any other song right now.
I don't think I've got through a conversation with anyone in past few days without "it's coming homeee" being said at least twice  And quite rightly too *.*

Good lord, the sooner the World Cup f***s off the better.

omg this

I don't mean to sound miserable like people can enjoy what they want but it's absolutely insufferable when you can't go ANYWHERE without hearing it's bloody coming home, football is the most dull thing possible and I just don't care

it's coming home *.*

Srsly, The World Cup is a big talking point like it or not and Three Lions only shows up once every two years or so and it's one of the FEW TIMES we're actually doing well enough to justify it and it'll be gone in a week at absolute most apart from the unlikely event that we'll win (we could easily be out this Saturday) and it'll be back to normal so chill out~

It's kind of crazy to think that this is the first time since downloads have (comprehensively) counted towards the chart that England have actually progressed further than the first knockout game in a World Cup / Euro. And therefore presumably the first time 'Three Lions' has hit #1 on iTunes? Unless it did back in the fledgling days of 2006.

It's coming home ~

To be fair the same thing can be said about other things such as Love Island. I don't watch that programme and I don't want to watch it but I hear so much about it nearly every day from sources that have nothing whatsoever to do with the programme.

And as I said earlier in the thread England wont win the World Cup. The only people who think England will win the World Cup are people who only watch football in 4 year time gaps, so all these football songs will disappear soon. The World Cup finishes on the 15th July which is only about a week and half away so it's not going to be too unbearable from now till then.

On Three Lions charting I can understand those who don't like football/the song itself being annoyed at its success but to suggest it's not a huge song is wrong - it's one of the most culturally significant songs in the charts since the 90s, it charted at no1 not once but twice and it always rises when England do well. IF they win the World Cup it will undoubtedly be no1 on huge sales for a bit!
