More games at working hours to look forward to!

Confidentially both World Cups that have been held in Asia have been won by South American teams, maybe that trend would continue in Saudi Arabia.

I like the idea that was proposed at one point of Portugal, Spain, Morocco. First intercontinental World Cup but still makes sense geographically. Plus, Morocco rising in international spotlight deserves a look and would only need to have like 3 stadiums I'd imagine with the rest going for Spain/Portugal.

Having Ukraine on the other side of Europe is just insane. If you want Ukraine, have Poland and Ukraine like the EUROS, especially since Poland has been such huge ally for Ukraine during the war.

I get the cites aren't chosen like this and the countries are the ones that bring the bids, but a lot of these choices make no sense.

Morocco alone and we're just asking for more human rights violations to build that many venues.

Spain-Portugal-Ukraine is a geographical nightmare.

Having Saudi Arabia 8 years after the Qatar mess when they have a lot of the same discriminatory laws would be a joke.

The South American one makes the most sense given those options.

The best one (besides the Spain-Portugal-Morocco one I mentioned above) was the Ireland-UK event which would have been awesome having venues like Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff, London, Manchester, etc. in the same World Cup.

UK won't be getting it any time soon as FIFA hates us. And they'll use the Euro 2020 final debacle as ammunition forever now.

We won't be going for a World Cup for a long time mainly as the current bidding process is not transparent and everyone who wins the World Cup bid usually is the one who pays off the other States with the most capital. We pulled out of the bid and are focusing on Euro 2028 or 2032 I think? Feel we have a very good shot, mainly because Wembley makes a lot of money for UEFA.

Yeah the home nations have bid for Euro 2028. It’s between us and Turkey as the only other bid (Russia) was deemed not eligible. We pulled out of a World Cup bid as it was deemed ‘not viable’.

Asian counties are technically banned from bidding until 2034 (there must be 2 World Cups between continents hosting the tournament before they can host again) so Saudi Arabia should not be allowed to bid but I’m sure we know that rules are not usually a deterrent for FIFA if there’s money involved.

The 2030 World Cup is set to be hosted across 3 different continents with the opening 3 matches being played in Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay to celebrate 100 years of the World Cup, while the rest of the tournament will be played in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.

This means that only Asian and Oceanic nations will be able to bit for 2034 meaning that we can almost guarantee now that it will be played in Saudi Arabia.

Mess, but understandable since it was going to be impossible for countries like Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay to build enough suitable stadiums without human rights question marks ala what happened in Brazil and Qatar for theirs.

I was rooting for the Spain, Portugal, Morocco one because of this and the fact that the geographical anomaly of having Morocco be an intercontinental neighbour the way it is was unprecedented. No argument for any of those three being automatic qualifiers either, even if it was a 32-team tournament.

The Saudi Arabia one is gross after what happened in Qatar. Seriously it's the might dollar over above everything else I guess.

Personally, I'd much rather have another Australia/New Zealand World Cup because they already have the infrastructure necessary (without the LGBT nightmare we had in Qatar and will certainly face in Saudi Arabia) -- plus another November World Cup? No thanks.

I don't know why South Korea/Japan haven't expressed wanting to do another one either.

That will certainly be an interesting World Cup when we get round to it! If the South American countries qualify automatically then that will certainly be an interesting qualification for the rest of the teams with only 7 of them left.
