The "irrelevancy rock" is ironically irrelevant (and ignorant) in itself. There are literally videos of Beyoncé & Jay-Z's tour being half empty... they could only wish for the tour sales as Brit (and lets be honest their album didn't set the charts alight half as much as everyone expected them to)! Also, artists tour more nowadays as a way to make money in this dying age of singles and chart sales.

 

For as long as an artist is selling out venues, then they're never more relevant, imo. But that's for another topic!

I would definitely describe Britney as a "legacy artist" rather than being relevant (kind of like Kylie and Madonna).

Surely Britney's singles not doing major business after her shows can be attributed to the fact that most of the people at her concert presumably already own them?? If she was doing the rounds on TV/Radio and playing them there then I'd get the critique but if you're seeing Britney Spears in concert you definitely already have a copy of Toxic or Baby One More Time somewhere.

Flopping in the charts with what? The classics that all sold extremely well in their prime? As stated above, most die hard fans at her shows will already own the music. I’m not sure what the point of your posts are except to attempt to drag someone who hasn’t even got any new releases out.
