i'll be cutting it a bit finer than i usually do but Semi 2 is FABULOUS. so many decent tunes.

That semi started out a bit... but then I was SO on board, I wanted to vote for 17 songs! That NEVER happens, it was heart breaking culling so many great songs so i really hope the ones I didnt have room for still manage to Q :wub:

Liked two songs last month and would never return to the rest. I can guarantee the songs doing well here would not do well in real life, which is a shame as the contest used to reflect what could actually do well in the real world - ABC, Grace You Don't Own Me, etc

That's more on just luck. You could make a case for Easy Love bc it got an impact date five days into the contest, but otherwise you can't really tell whether or not a BJSC entry will actually become big or at least have some impact (i.e. Ghost Voices) until it does. It's about sharing and broadening our music tastes, not just about finding the next big hit.

i would understand this argument if you'd had a lot of entries that had real world success, but the only time i remember one of your entries doing unreflectively well in real life compared to BJSC was Yall! aside from that, you usually send latin entries which have already done well in the latin market

It is a shame BJSC entries never become hits anymore - used to happen all the time! Only recent examples that spring to mind are freya ridings and Portugal the man.

we also had indiana - solo dancing which seemed to be a COMPLETE chart fluke

And then people lie and are like all sanguine saying, ooh these songs ate fantastic this month! Buut do you EEVER hear them.mentioned ot get plays on plug again like vintage entries? Nope.

Tbh most hits these days are either artists that are already well established (and would probably be instantly vetoed) or new artists who are immediately shilled on every Spotify playlist going so it'd be a lot harder to find anything that might be a future hit and wouldn't be a veto. Freya Ridings is one of the very few hits of late that grew somewhat organically.

I'd say Lost Without You is a vintage entry - for all the wrong reasons sure - but hey, anyone getting a live performance to the top 2 of this contest at its current state deserves all the praise in the world
