If things didn't get so messed up then this could have been the singles run =

01. All The Lovers
02. Get Outta My Way
03. Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)
04. Cupid Boy

Whose decision was it to release 'Better Than Today', that was a bad choice that ended up sinking the entire era. If it had gone like this, well then things could have been different and Kylie could have kept up her run of hits for a little bit longer. Plus look at the promo that 'BTT' had, if 'PYHU' had that same promo slots (which it definitely would have) then there's no doubt in my mind that would have done a hell of a lot better, then release 'CB' in the following year with a proper music video and some decent promo and that could have easily performed decently.

As I said before I'm a fan of better than today and was happy it was picked as single 3 so some heads at the label saw the same in the song as me but overall I don't know of many fans who agree which suggests in itself it wasn't the right choice and it's likely another song would have done better. Some songs make great album tracks so maybe 2 hearts and better than today fall into that category.

I do quite like the song (as a song), but it is a total 100% album track and felt like it was randomly selected.

I guess it is like '2 Hearts' in that respect (but perhaps moreso).

I agree with these comments, both are good songs but not good enough for singles.

Fans like ourselves may possibly have regarded them higher had they remained album tracks.

01. All The Lovers

02. Get Outta My Way

03. Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)

04. Cupid Boy

Just reading on Popjustice that this was the planned single schedule but Better Than Today was last minute put third and it's underperformance stopped Put Your Hands Up receiving a full release and Cupid Boy was cancelled all together. They should have just accepted how things went and continued with their plan tbh.

In the ‘Kylie Bible’ it talks a lot about this era - both Kylie and the lable thought ‘Get Outta My Way’ was going to be a big hit and it threw them that it missed the Top 10 and for them was a flop, I think that’s why they changed direction and released something totally different with BTT.

Like others have said it’s not a bad song but certainly not a single - it’s also the last time we got a proper full physical single release (2 x CD and picture disc).

It was great that Kylie continued with the multiple formats for quite a bit longer than many other artists (bar The One, of course  ). By 2008, I noticed that many artists were only releasing 1 CD (or perhaps a CD & 7"), so 2 CDs was very uncommon by 2010.

I still wish she did them now!

^^ Yes, Kylie certainly kept up with the multiple formats longer than most although BTT put an end to it (Interesting that you can still pick up picture discs and the CD singles of all 3 Aphrodite releases easily and cheaply in new condition on eBay and Amazon, they must have produced them in huge numbers).

We say it all the time but I long for physical Kylie singles again for my collection - even if they released a limited run in cardboard sleeves of CDs I’d be be happy!

I miss the cd singles from Kylie and miss the multi format cd singles even more. Ya the singles from aphrodite are still cheap but some of her other cd singles are going for crazy prices.

Get outta my way by far.

It's the one song of her whole career that deserved more success

I never understand some of the love for Get Outta My Way, i think it was lucky to have got the success it did and i can totally see why it didnt connect with people outside the fan base.

This tbh, it’s a good song and I do listen to it quite often but it’s certainly not a standout track for me, looking back it’s #12 peak is probably where it deserved to chart although the record label and Kylie seemingly expected it to be huge.

I wouldn't agree that it deserved to miss the Top 10. In my opinion it's on par with or better than some of Kylie's 2000s Top 10s, so it was a shame that it became her first release with physical formats since Spinning Around to miss the Top 10... I hardly think it was worthy of that dubious honour. :( It's just unfortunate that this is the way the cookie crumbled... downloads were really becoming the dominant force and popularity on physicals was starting to not be enough:

Lol at the fact that Love the Way You Lie was 1 place higher than Get Outta My Way, and then 2 places higher than Better than Today.

Better than Today was #53 in the download chart (having previously peaked at #38 two weeks in advance of the physical releases... oops, that wasn't well timed), meanwhile it entered at #2 in the physical chart (behind The X Factor 'Heroes').

Get outta my way was hyped from the off and I think many people were like me,it's not a bad song but nothing stand out about it either. All the lovers should have got the hype as it's the standout from the album and one of her stand out singles too.

You don't speak for everyone on that though, I know plenty of fans who like it.

Pretty sure 'All The Lovers' was hyped, what with it being the lead single.

I know I don't speak for everyone but some fans feel the same about it as I do snd others are the opposite and adore it.All the lovers turned into one of her top selling singles so if it got any hype it was justified.

Speaking for myself, Get Outta My Way stood out for me as the highlight from the album (outside of All the Lovers that had already been released), so I found the decision for it to be single #2 to make total sense. I don't really see anything else from the album being received any better / doing any better in the charts.

Maybe it was just her time to start struggling with post-album singles, in a market that was starting to be heavily driven by download sales, by artists who were current in the download era rather than having had a fan base that liked physicals. Maybe no particular reflection on the quality of Get Outta My Way. Who knows!

It's nice to see that it's gone on to be one of her strongest performing songs on streaming platforms anyway. It also went down very well with the audience at the Golden tour show I was at. So despite how it was received in 2010, ultimately I think it's gone on to be quite a celebrated single of hers.

As for All the Lovers, I feel like that got a lot more hype overall... when that became a hit it really felt like one that was loved by the public. Kind of sad to think that was essentially her last hurrah in terms of major UK singles chart success (by herself, obviously Higher did well not long afterwards). Although if you were to go by crowd reaction at the tour, you'd be forgiven for thinking Dancing had been commercially as successful as All the Lovers!

Get Outta My Way, falls into the same category as 2 Hearts for myself.

It is a good song but not a great single choice, I feel Get Outta My Way was a cheap/throwaway pop single that didn't have enough hooks to make it stand out or particularly memorable to people outside the fanbase.

I do agree, Aphrodite as an album possibly lacked stand out singles to follow the sublime All The Lovers, but i feel Aphrodite or Cupid Boy would have made a much better choice of second single.

Have to say I think Cupid Boy would have struggled as a single more than GOMW - I like it but it doesn’t sound like a commercial hit tbh. Aphrodite for me is a bit of a patchy album and ultimately I think they chose the best songs to release (Aside from BTT  ).
