October 29, 20186 yr Author Because BMG want to generate money. They don't get anything for tour. Only sales of things they distribute
October 29, 20186 yr https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/bmg-...2-year-on-year/ https://www.musicbusinessworldwide.com/bmg-...third-of-sales/ They’re absolutely fine. How Golden is performing right now is really not a make or break scenario for them, lol. It’s been one of their biggest successes! We don’t know the ins and outs of Kylie’s deal but I’d be quite surprised if BMG don’t see any money from the tour.
October 29, 20186 yr Well I enjoyed the performance, I thought she looked fabulous and sounded absolutely fine... My partner said its one of his faves off the album and after seeing it on the tour and now live on X factor its one that stands out... it may of crossed to audience in studio better then on TV but was still good. And any promo is not wasted promo i'm just glad Kylie can still bag TV slots on main shows a lot of artists cant, unless Jack is with her then MTSWY is wasted in trying to promote it
October 29, 20186 yr Author Yep she needs Jack to be on this and get promoting. Lets see Up to 26 on iTunes better than I thought. Wont be top 100 today in update I don't think but may stay top 150 for week Edited October 29, 20186 yr by SmileyKylie
October 29, 20186 yr Pleased that the album is back in the Top 30 on iTunes but the fact the single didn’t go Top 100 and is now dropping shows that the performance/song really didn’t click with the general public.
October 29, 20186 yr Annoying that this hasn't been uploaded to YouTube by X Factor yet (if they even will). A fan account has uploaded but wouldn't be surprised if it gets taken down shortly: 5NfeS4DD4oA I like how Golden-centric the video montage was at the start. Watching back, the performance is a lot of fun and I'm happy we have a televised performance for 'A Lifetime to Repair' now.
October 29, 20186 yr ^^ Video has already been removed, XF are usually pretty good at getting the performances uploaded quickly so not sure why they haven’t yet.
October 29, 20186 yr Because BMG want to generate money. They don't get anything for tour. Only sales of things they distribute I think BMG are probably more than happy on the return on investment from this - they’ve managed to flog us £55 deluxe vinyl, £25 clear and picture disc vinyls and £10 cassettes, everything else is a bonus and ‘the £5 CDs’ you keep mentioning were pressed up long ago so there is no loss there just an attractive price point to keep the album selling. We have Jonathan Ross, Michael McIntyre, and Prince Charles ITV concert and I’m sure there is more to come so plenty of chances to increase album sales and a big IF they do push the Sigala track in the new year that will generate interest in the album along with a stand-alone DVD release too so if both happen that will keep sales bubbling along into the new year.
October 29, 20186 yr I knew it wouldn't chart officially but least it managed a good (but short lived) return to iTunes top 100,this and golden will probably be pretty neck and neck on overall sales. I wasn't a golden fan until she performed it live and I really like it now but a lifetine to repair hasn't had the same effect on me,I like the song buy its my least like single by far out of the 5 from the album.
October 30, 20186 yr I found it pointless promoting a song that was released and did nothing when there is a new single out that could potentially do better. I am sure both Kylie and the team had reasons for selecting this performance but i am not convinced it was a good decision.
October 30, 20186 yr Author You keep talking about money as if Kylie isn't profitable enough for BMG! :P Meanwhile, she's been grossing $1m per show of her tour from the figures released so far. No! but thats what business is about making as much money as you can, especially if you are just a distributor. As far as i am aware BMG get nothing for Tour, just the music sales
October 30, 20186 yr I would think the record label will get something from the tour as she is performing some music they distribute and promote.
October 30, 20186 yr I would lean towards agreeing as Dancing always gets a reaction when performed as does the album. A Lifetime To Repair clearly didn't connect with people as the album isn't benefiting by much at all.
October 30, 20186 yr I definitely think people are reading into this too much. XF's viewing figures are continuing to decline. Whether she performed A Lifetime to Repair or MTSWY, I doubt there'd be a big difference in album sales. It seems like some of you were anticipating that had she performed the latter both the single and the album would have shot right up to #1. :drama: Of the two songs, for the demographic/viewership that XF manages to maintain and attract, I feel A Lifetime to Repair was the better option. Let's just appreciate that, while it's not a dramatically huge increase in sales, the performance has certainly benefitted the album to an extent and not hindered it...
October 30, 20186 yr I don't think anyone expected a huge turnaround from the X Factor performance. I can only speak for myself, but i had thought a prime time tv performance would be enough to ensure the album would safely return to the Top 100. At this point this isn't looking positive to happen. From a song aspect, Music's Too Sad Without You i believe would have had a better gain as a single rather than A Lifetime To Repair as Music's Too Sad Without You in my opinion would possibly attract more album sales than A Lifetime To Repair especially at this time of year. I fully understand X Factor is not the show it was, back some years ago a performance potentially had a massive impact but that rarely happens now. My main point was all the previous promotion resulted in the album returning to the charts and this is the first that hasn't had such an impact and i partially feel it is due to a bad song choice and also the performance was one of her weakest vocally since she started promoting the Golden era.
