Wait! Is there an 'album rule' to be eligible for Best Male Solo Artist? If this is the case, I didn't know about that.

The Brits get funny with albums released towards the end of the year, I imagine they nominated Giggs because there haven't been many (if any) big British rap albums this year, and they like to include at least 1 rap entry.

I think it's like beg Nov/end of Oct? Sam Smith "requested" his album wasn't considered last year I believe, so he was eligible for this year. (He def did it to avoid Ed :lol:) Maybe Giggs did the same to avoid Ed/Stormzy?

 

Would adore LM to win best group but we know how that's gonna go down lmao. Are Spice Girls the only girl group to ever win "Best British Group"?

Spice Girls have never won British Group iirc they lost to Manic Street Preachers in 97

Why is Florence and the Machine, a BAND nominated in the female solo? This is like when The Streets a DUO won British male solo so annoying!

I hope they bring back the classic Brit Award and not some hideously designed thing by some British designer with no taste whatsoever. I'd be so gutted if I were a popstar and I got one of those awful polka dot or mohawk things and not the silver statue from back in the day!

They should've nominated Bradley Walsh a few years ago then :lol:

Ahh good - looking at the nominees I'd say The 1975, George Ezra, Anne-Marie, Sam Fender, Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, Nile Rodgers & Chic look like likely performers. Usually they go all out for at least one big US star, so could see that being Ariana Grande.

Even she was shocked when she tweeted her reaction video. It doesn’t strike me as an album that has resonated and had much longevity but there are some bopz on it.

Going on both Abz Love and Paul Cattermole's eBay shenanigans of recent years, it would appear the original silver ones don't hold their lustre all that well. But I do agree they've resembled something you find in X-rated shops in recent years.

I'm thinking unless Ariana performs, Christine & The Queens will win. It wouldn't surprise me if she won anyway!
