Busy was an immediate highlight from his album upon first listen for me. I'm gutted it performed so poorly in the charts, but I think thats what he gets for choosing HOMS over this in the first place.

Such a bop. It was my fave Olly song for a long time! Then I grew to adore Dance With Me Tonight and Right Place Right Time more.

I'm glad to see it become the highest single from his first album in this rate despite it not being a top 40 hit!

And if my words break through the wall

06. Dear Darlin' | Avg.8.357

Highest Scores: 11: [Chapman, JerdNoseReindeer, PAJ88, Ezra's Elf, coi], 10: [Rossco, Liam, CaptainMackmas, The Poguesmith, SweetButJonjo, Jay, SGrey], Lowest Scores: -1: [TheGrinch, UltraReputation]

I bet that this will come as a shock to the many voters of Buzzjack as we lose one of Olly's ultimate if not signature hit 'Dear Darlin', it funnily enough scored the most 11's in this rate and in the early stages ranked at the #1 slot, but the double -1's scores caused it to slip and despite a lot of high scores, it was the couple of lower scores towards the end caused it to slip out of the top 5 by a very close margin of 0.5 score. Released in May 2013 as the 3rd single from his 3rd studio album 'Right Place Right Time' and managed to reach #5 on the UK singles chart, becoming his 6th top 10 hit, making this a massive success with sales of over 700,000 copies, earning itself a Platinum disc and became the 20th best selling single of that year. Later that year he recorded a new version of the track for its release in France which featured French vocals from singer Alizee, and was later included on the special edition of the album. Worldwide the song was a big success by topping the charts in Austria, top 10 peaks in Germany, Iceland, Australia, Switzerland, Slovenia, Ireland & Poland. It's placing here has even shocked me as I thought this would be a sure thing for the top 5 (and even counted the scores 3 times to make sure). Well just goes to show that tastes change after much time has passed. This is a really good song and a definite standout moment upon the album's release and most obvious potential hit as well as being a firm fan favourite with its anthemic strings and chimes to deepen the song's emotion. Perhaps the constant overplay it received at the time got many people sick of it (including me), but as it stands its a really decent pop song in Olly's discography.

Right then everyone we are now down to our final five and they are =

Heart Skips A Beat [Ft Rizzle Kicks]
Dance With Me Tonight
Troublemaker [Ft Flo-Rida]
Up [Ft Demi Lovato]
You Don't Know Love

Please predict away...

Wow! I thought DD would be a comfortable winner! :o it's sooooo good too, so to see it fail to go top 5 over the rather plain and basic (by comparison) 'Troublemaker' is a shock to me. I'm gutted tbh.

I'm gonna predict:

01. Dance With Me Tonight

02. Heart Skips A Beat

03. Up

04. Troublemaker

05. You Don't Know Love

(I was WILDLY off last time! So expect the same here lmao)

5. Up (Ft Demi Lovato) | Avg.8.375

Highest Scores: 11: [Rossco], 10: [PAJ88, CaptainMackmas, TheGrinch, Ezra's Elf, Jay, Cameron, UltraReputation, WhovilleOdyssey], Lowest Scores: 3: [ElectroBoy]

As we head into the top 5 we say goodbye to another era with a song that's been featured in quite a few of these rates now, 'Up', released in December 2014 as the 2nd single from his 4th album 'Never Been Better' and features American singer and firm Buzzjack fave Demi Lovato. Upon release the song became a massive success by reaching #4 on the UK singles chart, which makes this Olly's 8th and final to date top 10 hit, while at the same time giving Demi her 3rd. Worldwide the song was massive with top 10 peaks in 7 countries while also making top 20 in a further 5 countries. According to Cutfather (who was one of the song's co-writers), the song is inspired by the music of Mumford & Sons and Phillip Phillips. "Up" was initially submitted to English-Irish boy band One Direction, but it was rejected by their label Syco Music. The song's chorus was then re-written by Maegan Cotton and then submitted to Olly Murs as a duet. I can see why a lot of people would like this song as for starters their voices work really well together, with a thumping bass drum holds the rhythm throughout the track in a simple build up that’s effective with the two stars really bouncing off together, even if we don't get to see the full potential of Demi's powerhouse vocals on this and while it may not be original, its a very fun pop by the numbers song, a charming piece of music that these days we seem to get less and less of, but on the whole a very solid effort by two great artists, well done.

If Dear Darlin' had been Top 5 over Troublemaker, then the Top 5 would have been my favourite 5 Olly songs! I really like Troublemaker, but I'd have it around 8th.

I swear you're giving me a heart attack

4. Troublemaker (Ft Flo Rida) | Avg.8.392

Highest Scores: 11: [samJudd], 10: [Rossco, Liam, CaptainMackmas, The Poguesmith, Feel The Fever, WhovilleOdyssey], Lowest Scores: 4: [ultraReputation]

At #4 we have one of Olly's most successful singles to date 'Troublemaker', which was released in October 2012 as the lead single from his 3rd album 'Right Place Right Time', and features American rapper Flo Rida. The song was a major commercial success by becoming his 4th and to date final UK chart topper, and even made a decent impact on the US Billboard charts by reaching #25 (his biggest hit to date there), and was even huge worldwide by reaching top 10 peaks in 14 countries. Now this is my personal favourite of his and glad to see that its done very well on here with the scores being mostly high, (of note this is only ahead of 'Up' by a mere 0.5 points). Not the first time Flo Rida has collaborated with a former X-Factor finalist, but on here thankfully it works really well and from the very first note of the opening guitar riff it has you hooked and progresses in true pop form that's predictable? yes. boring? Definitely not. This is Olly at his upmost commercial peak career-wise and imagine if 'Army Of Two got released as the lead single as originally planned, with this as second...doesn't seem right would it, this definitely works better as lead and seems more of an interesting progression from his first 2 albums and all round just a really good pop song and while it may not be the single you remember him forever for, but it’s definitely a track that will get him noticed.

We are now done to our final 3

Heart Skips A Beat

Dance With Me Tonight

You Don't Know Love

'Dear Darlin' is a great song, I hadn't actually heard it in years before re-listening now.

'Up' has kind of grown on me a bit recently.

'Troublemaker' is fab.

I'd like to see either 'Heart Skips A Beat' or 'You Don't Know Love' take it, but I can't see past a 'Dance With Me Tonight' win. Actually, maybe 'You Don't Know Love' could be a dark horse.

Nothing really matters when we're dancing

3. Heart Skips A Beat [Ft Rizzle Kicks] | Avg.8.964

Highest Scores: 11: [Tawdry Hepburn, Liam, CaptainMackmas], 10: [samJudd, ElectroBoy, gavindeejay, Rossco, ThePoguesmith, Monzo, Jay, UltraReputation], Lowest Scores: 6.5: [PAJ88]

At the #3 spot we have 'Heart Skips A Beat', which was released in August 2011 as the lead single from his 2nd album 'In Case You Didn't Know' and features English hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks. The song was of course a huge success by topping the UK charts with sales of 109,000 copies and went on to achieve international success by topping the charts in Germany & Switzerland and hitting top 10 in several other countries, making this his first worldwide release and hit. The track was even given an American release, but was remixed to feature Chiddy Bang instead, which did cause a bit of upset, but according to Olly himself it was down to the label as they weren't keen on UK rappers over there. Released as his first single over there and managed a small dent by reaching a #96 peak. I think this definitely ranks as one of Olly's best known and signature hits and thankfully he didn't fall to the 2nd album curse as songs like this helped him ease into further success, and given to what's happened to most of the former X-Factor male contestants, I think its safe to say that Olly's not one of them, plus the fact that this is great is just an added bonus, a fantastic anthem for the summer with a fun and infectious chorus and even Rizzle Kicks adds a bit of fun flavour to the mix, and nice to see him finding more of his own style and definitely a vast improvement over his first album. Of course he would rely heavily on collaborations later down the line, but hey if it works it works, why mess with a winning formula (although its probably worn too thin on 'Moves'), but here its great.
