Just when i thought Little Mix's Think About Us would reach top 20 this week, of course it's blocked at #21

I'd be more worried about their album if I was you.............LM54

All the Prodigy material should surface tomorrow.

Lots of new albums in the 40, I didn't even know Maximo Park had a new album used to be a big fan of them, their first 2 albums were pure classics, after that they went downhill for me.

Good sales for Tom Walker so far... could be looking at 40k to 45k for the week.

Interesting chart this week.

I would greatly welcome Little Mix taking a step further into the Top 20 and Calvin Harris and Rag N Bone Man to end the week at number 1.

Westlife, again showing impressive staying power.

In the albums i would have expected Hozier to be ahead of Bryan Adams but it may happen before the week closes.

Impressive week for Tom Walker which i am happy about.

Glad to see Mabel top 3, Calvin #1 and Hozier top 100. I hope they can all hold on until friday.

So many new entries in the album chart and a very solid start for Tom! I think he'll do similar to Rag'n'Bone Man with the album being a consistent seller throughout the year.

good figures for Tom Walker and not that terrible for Hozier

Really strong for Hozier considering he doesn’t have a big lead single. Pleased to see Tom at #1 Too.

Great to see Gary Numan's 1982 LP I, Assassin New at No-33 midweek.

Any idea how many copies it has sold to get there this week?

With a bit of luck it will stay in the Top 100 on Friday.

quick question

i dunno how it worked back in the day when people died and their big hit went back to number one years after it was released..(not that i think the prodigy will be number 1 this week) did record companies reissue a certain single just to get it to number one that week or something? cos i doubt there were gonna be many of the original singles still knocking about in shops.. unlike today where downloads and streaming make it immediate and obsolete for a reissue.. if thats what they were even classed as.. i dunno does that make sense?

I only remember MJ in 2009 and that was downloads - but I know Merry Xmas (War is Over) was def reissued in 1980 along with the other singles in early 81!
Blimey, didn't expect Jonas Brothers to be challenging for a top 10. I imagine we'll feel the effects of The Prodigy more as Friday approaches.

When Freddie Mercury died in November 1991 Parlophone reissued “Bohemian Rhapsody” as a double A-side with (new single) “These Are The Days Of Our Lives” within about a month - but their current single “The Show Must Go On” did manage to re-enter the Top 40 organically from copies still in record shops.

Elvis Presley died while his new single was flopping in the chart, and it suddenly shot up to #1 with 8 other singles re-entering the chart. When Buddy Holly died they released a new single “It Doesn't Matter Anymore” and that became his only #1 about 2 months later.

New Rita Ora not even Top 100? I guess that's the damage done from Spotify not featuring it on its NMF playlist :(
With John Lennon, Starting Over was already in the chart anyway, and I think Imagine started to rechart organically from existing stock but EMI quickly pressed more copies (without the picture sleeve). Woman of course was released several weeks later but was already scheduled as the second single from the album in any case.

To be fair to Buddy Holly - he had 2 UK No.1 Hits. He'd been No.1 with The Crickets in 1957 - 'That'll Be The Day'.

So, 'It Doesn't Matter Any More', (written by Paul Anka), was his 2nd No.1, in 1959, after he died.

If John Lennon had not died, '(Just like) Starting Over' would have been a No.8 UK Hit. It had Peaked at No.8,

and was down to No.21, when he died. Then it jumped to No.1.

Elvis Presley may not have even had a Top 40 Hit with 'Way Down', had he not died. It had entered at No.46 and

it was only up to No.42 in its 2nd Chart Week. Then he died and it jumped to No.4. Then to No.1 - for 5 weeks.
