August 6, 20195 yr I think this will definitely be a grower but I am liking it, the saxophone is lovely! I enjoyed the singles from their last album but I don't really feel any great desire to return to them, kind of felt like more of the same from the debut but a little watered down, so it's probably a good idea for them to switch up their sound a bit for this album.
October 6, 20195 yr Their new single is called "Now I'm In It" and it will be released later this month. @1180602703627440128 From The Guardian: That darkness can be heard in the band's new material, which marks something of a musical departure, particularly on two emotionally brutal songs, "Hallelujah", a reflection on loss and recovery, and "Now I'm in It", a breathy pop ballad in which Danielle sings she feels 'alone in my head'. "People think "Now I'm in It" is a break-up song because I sing: 'We can't be friends' but I'm talking about me and my mind. It was gnarly and I was not OK with myself," says Danielle. "There were times when collectively all of us were kind of spiralling," says Este. "I was wanting to support my sister but also supporting her boyfriend; he wanted to get back to work and that was good but I felt guilty that we were sort of making him do the record... I felt like I had to be strong all the time but most people with type 1 diabetes have depression. You start to get resentful of the disease. But to have my sisters take care of me, and remind me that I wanna dance at my great-granddaughter's wedding, "Hallelujah" is a reflection of how lucky we are to have each other." October 14, 20195 yr I hope they rush-release "Now I'm In It". It's really good and I prefer this over "Summer Girl", which I also liked as well.
October 30, 20195 yr The music video premieres at 12:30pm. PST / 3:30pm. EDT / 7:30pm. GMT, so it's likely to be chosen as the Hottest Record on Annie Mac's BBC Radio 1 show today. G-UnzRM24IM
October 30, 20195 yr Love this! I was so indifferent about their last album but these two singles have both been fantastic.
October 31, 20195 yr wow amazing very impressed great song and another incredible video summer girl was nice but kinda was going nowhere, this is much stronger
October 31, 20195 yr That's not a Stevie Nicks sample is it? Sounds so much like Edge of Seventeen :o Really loving this and Summer Girl, great in different ways. This is definitely the kind of artistic progression I wanted from them last era that we didn't quite get, although I could watch them walking down a road all day, hypnotising *.
November 2, 20195 yr This sounds great on first listen, not as radical a departure from the old HAIM sound as 'Summer Girl' was but it's a very nice natural progression (and as much as I love 'Summer Girl' I'm kind of happy about that, it's nice to hear a more HAIM-y HAIM song again). Excited to see where else they'll be going with this album.
November 2, 20195 yr Loving ‘Now I’m In It’ so much already, a real return to form! Appreciate what ‘Summer Girl’ was doing but wasn’t something I ever really returned to.
November 18, 20195 yr nice but why not properly push Now Im In It instead and having added to spotify playlists, thats the best thing they've ever done
November 25, 20195 yr Not feeling 'Hallelujah' as much as the previous 2 singles on first listen but it's a pleasant listen, could see it being a grower. Has a bit of a Simon & Garfunkel sound to it. Coincidentally (?) they actually have released a cover of a Leonard Cohen song this week as well (for a Hanukkah compilation), although it's not 'Hallelujah': pL1J6MYEUtY Also sounding pleasant enough ~
November 25, 20195 yr 3/3 for me. I love that they're all sounding so different from each other yet all are pretty great ^_^
January 8, 20205 yr Had no idea where else to post this but I've never f***ed with HAIM much at all, but I heard Now I'm In It on Radio 1 a couple of days ago and it might be the first time I've ever loved a song of theirs. There's a tone to their (?) voices I find slightly grating and unpleasant but it's not as noticeable on that song so I'm a fan!
