I thought this tbh but did expect it.

 

What caused it to become so iconic. Initially it didn’t stick around long at all on the charts.

 

Its basically a stident life anthem, i didnt discover it myself until 5 years after it came out when i was at uni, its always played in most nightclubs

It's worth pointing out that when "Mr Brightside" was first released in 2004, the UK charts were physical only, hence why it didn't stick around at first. The Killers didn't really start to become truly popular until the start of 2005 when "Somebody Told Me" was re-released, and by that stage the band were nearing the end of their 1st album's cycle, so "Mr Brighside" didn't get a re-release. The song didn't have a chance to make the singles chart again until 2007 when downloads could chart on their own without a physical release, hence why it started re-entering the charts in 2007, and ever since.

Yeh Mr Brightside wasn't even given many plays on radio 1, not sure if it was playlisted or not at the time? By the rerelease of STM in Jan 2005 radio 1 were all over them after realising they were the real deal!

Why is Good as Hell entering now then?

'Mr. Brightside' getting a new peak yesterday in its 1,655th day in the Spotify top 200 according to Kworb *.

 

Wow at how high 'Thiago Silva' is, ACR coming to probably block it from being a much belated top 40 hit (although should still be comfortably top 100 for the first time).

 

I'm guessing the late entry for 'Good As Hell' is also Glastonbury impact?

Didn't realise #28 was its daily peak, have belatedly edited a [*NEW PEAK*] onto yesterday's post.

 

I expect it should be able to get a new weekly peak too, currently it is #37 achieved on 26/10/2017.

Senorita still #1 extending its lead 512K vs Beautiful People 473K

Good to see 'Castles' getting into the Top 200. Also great to see Becky Hill getting a new peak, hopefully there's still a chance it can be some sort of a hit?

Glad to see "Truth Hurts" getting a new peak.

 

Nice to see "Mother's Daughter" enter the top 50 again. Hopefully it'll rise a lot more and perhaps even get a vertical video to helps its streaming more.
