Suspension of Parliament ruled illegal by the Scottish court. Interesting how the English judges had a different view... If the ruling stands in the appeals court, then parliament will have to resume! The MORE NUMEROUS opposition could also resume parliament in Scotland :o

Government REFUSES its legal obligations of releasing the yellowhammer Brexshit documents too. Another court case comin up?

The government have immediately appealed against the Scottish judgement and that appeal will be heard by the Supreme Court. In the absence of a written constitution, this was always certain to end up in the country's highest court.

Yeah it was always going to ping pong it’s way to the Supreme Court by hook or by crook so not really surprised it’s ended up there but was nice to record a win at the full hearing

No.10, coming from the UNIONIST party, has just rubbished the ruling. It has claimed the judges were biased! That is basically seizing on far right, activist judges conspiracy theory narratives. The Scottish court is second after the Supreme Court and Scotland has a different legal system that can see things differently to English courts. That is why it was chosen. Rubbishing Scotland like that, from the same man who said a Scot should "never be pm" for some hoity toighty Etonian Bullington reason, is beyond belief.

FARCE.

So Boris Johnson deliberately misled the Queen and must therefore resign immediately.

Grieve has said he must resign if he misled the queen!!

He is merely taking his cue from his predecessor. She hot footed it to Buck House after the last election to tell HM that she had done a deal with the DUP. In fact, it took another couple weeks for the deal to be done - so long, in fact, that someone else had to grovel to HM about postponing the Queen’s Speech.

If the prorogation had nothing to do with the EU withdrawal process, why does the response to the petition on the matter mention it three times in the first four sentences?

Prorogation is a prerogative Act of the Crown, exercised on the advice of Ministers. We must respect the referendum result and the UK will be leaving the EU on 31 October whatever the circumstances.

Omg. Another reminder that the Tories DID NOT WIN the last election.

Sure one was filed in Belfast too.

Scots Law is quite different to English law, part of the reason in the 1700’s our distinct legal system was retained.

Wonder how much the claim of right came into the arguments.

They didn't win it *outright*, but the did win it in the sense of becoming the gov't - that's a rather important point!

By pretending to have a deal weeks before they had one?

In normal times, Johnson should be resigning. But the last few years have really shown how powerful figures can just choose to flout the parts of the law they dislike, reform it elsewhere. We've gone from a political class who were sticklers for laws and tradition to demagogues who do what they want, when they want. This is how democracies become autocracies.

I do hope that it results in a forced reopening of Parliament and a codification into law about prorogation conditions.

Why are people, media etc, still going on about no deal, when it can't now happen despite what Boris and Cummings think. MP's have outlawed it haven't they?
It's disgusting thay Bojo the Autocratic Clown purged his party of those mps, INCLUDING THE ONES WHO RAN AGAINST HIM FOR LANDES GENTRY PARTY LEADER!! How can you excuse this behaviour, the three brexshiteers of the seet?

So if I've got this right, if the Supreme Court upholds this verdict next week his position will be untenable and he'll have no choice but to resign?

Praying so HARD that will happen, the man is an utter monster and he's gotten away with too much for far too long. It's about time he got served his comeuppance.
