Was it a dream or a nightmare?

Of course there will be celebrations on January 31st. A large number of people for better or worse voted for this so they are going be be happy that as far as they can see its "done".

Things will go back to normal on February 1st, nothing will change in the long run and then once we are out of transition things will get worse.

So far I as I can see, if people want to get the beer in and have some fireworks at the end of January, let them, because it´s going to be a long ride after that when the s*ht hits the fan.

It never has. It has been doing its job of holding the government to account

And voters responded by holding the HOC to account.

More people voted against the tories and brexshit parties than voted for them. So yes. They agreed with parliament doing its job.

They told them it *hadn't* been doing the job they wanted it to do!

And yet far more voted for left wing parties. Oops. The electoral system favours tories and one party state rule.

In other news, Sky News say that sales of wine, champagne and other alcoholic drinks, and also snacks, are expected to soar just before Jan 31st, as millions of Brits prepare to celebrate the day we leave the EU. Retailers usually expect a quiet sales month after Christmas and New Year but are already stocking up in anticipation of increased sales as Brexit approaches. A Tesco spokesman said "we expect sales to be something like when England have an important World Cup match"

Also, special programmes are planned for late on Friday 31st Jan. by Sky, the BBC and ITV now that the Brexit agreement has been passed and the uncertainty has ended.

All those beer, wine and snacks sales will be good for the economy too so win win all the way.
Until their impacts on health compound growing problems in the NHS of course.

Well I'm sure one night of revelry won't do too much harm.

Apparently it'll be live on BBC1 and Boris will say a few words before lighting the first firework.

Oh god give me strength.

Any chance we can strap Boris to the rocket before he lights it?

That's just made me laugh. :D

Wonder if the EU will have anything to celebrate getting rid of us at last.

Ridiculous if this turns into a celebration after all the divisiveness!

Well do you begrudge 17 million Brexiteers feeling just a bit pleased?

They can do whatever they want but pushing and forcing celebrations on to the rest of us is pretty sick. It comes across as rubbing it in our faces which is not what gracious ‘winners’ do.

I doubt we'll be rubbing it in anyone's faces. I was thanked here by someone for not gloating about the election result.

I can't help it if the government wants fireworks though can I? Wouldn't bother if it was up to me.

You are ignoring the fact that there are now more people alive who voted Remain than voted Leave.

Did he? He didn't say 17.4m... <_<
