Oh Christ. That sounds fairly grim. If it’s June this year would you need anything for then? I thought that under the Withdrawal agreement we still have full free movement rights and access to the labour market until 1/1/2021? It’s the only reason I’m not shitting it about not being able to get back into Germany if I leave the country this year.

What is the minimum requirements for you? Sucks that there is a desire to put roadblocks up but I guess they’re only responding in kind to the UK Gov

Yes, this is true, but anecdotally, basically nobody has heard of the transition period for administrative reasons (understandable when Brexit barely affects France) but basically everybody has heard of Brexit for political reasons, and in everyone's minds, that happens at the end of January. So part of my job hunt involves explaining to potential employers that yes, you can hire me in 2020 without going through the laborious and expensive process like you do for hiring other non-EU nationals.

If they're willing to give me a permanent contract, that is - my current employers are not willing or even able (I've been told) to hire me permanently, as I'm not fully qualified, and to be qualified, I need to take the CAPES and become a French civil servant (EU citizens only), and not even the withdrawal agreement/transition period or a soft Brexit caters for that. I don't know if I can be employed on a recurrent temporary basis as nothing is guaranteed after this year.

I think the June 30th deadline for Boris to request an extension to the transition period is a bit soon. How will they know if they can get trade deals sorted by the end of December? Maybe end of Sept or Oct would have been more logical.
Haven't you learned by now that all these EU stories in the trash press are also trash?! There is a massive document on 30 years of EU lies - and they are all like that one. Don't be gullible.

if true, as much as I'd love to get a tattoo with the hair colour of my favourite waifus, that'll be due to safety precautions, something that is very good for public health.

that damned EU, infringing on my freedom to injure my body with substances that haven't met safety standards.

This (and the associated point in that article to cut down on charger waste) is framed as crazy interfering but in reality it's the sort of good standardisation that befits the EU's status as a useful regulatory body. Why not point out how easy it would be to be flexible with chargers, share them around and reuse old ones in the future if they're all standardised?

They may put their own spin on it, but that doesn't necessarily mean it has no basis at all.

That article is literally calling every decision controversial, despite the EU having very good reasons

I do not agree with the burger thing but to call it controversial is a biT much

It’s from a more extreme paper than the Daily Mail. The most useful propaganda machine for Brexit you’ll find.

BRITONS are furious at “resentful” Remainers who have pledged to disrupt Brexit day celebrations after claiming membership of the EU was being “shattered for no reason”.

By RACHEL RUSSELL, THE EXPRESS.

Brexiteers including Nigel Farage are preparing to publicly celebrate in Parliament Square as the UK officially leaves the bloc at 11pm on January 31. Councils and community groups are also being encouraged by the Government to raise Union Flags as part of the celebrations. But their plans to mark the occasion may be disrupted by pro-European protesters who want their “heartbreak” to be heard about.

Remainer Jonathan Lis, deputy director of the thinktank British Influence, revealed his plans for Brexit day on talkRADIO yesterday.

He said: “We’re going to have a counter-demo to match it and we’re going to have bigger numbers.”

Our EU citizenship is being taken from us, our membership of a dynamic community shattered for no reason.

“We’ll never support Brexit, we’ll never like it and we certainly won’t celebrate it.”

But Express.co.uk readers were quick to vent their fury on Facebook over his comments.

Ian Gerald Jones wrote: “They lost and now only way they know is to create mayhem, spoilt children."

Jackie Monet simply added: “Doesn’t bother me.

If they want to spend their lives being resentful and miserable that’s fine, but I don’t.”

And Paul De Mouilpied couldn’t contain his anger as he wrote: “For Heaven’s sake, grow up!

“You poor little snowflakes.”

Extra police on duty and riot police will be on standby and will cost thousands. Let's hope there's no trouble in London on 31st. It'll be very sad if there is. :(

There should be no more Brexiteers and Remainers now. We should all be pulling together and working for the future whatever that may hold.

Talk of one side having bigger numbers than the other on 31st is childish. "We'll have more there than you"

I will never pull together with leavers. And that’s not being childish.

Oh and is this coming from leavers about riots if they didn’t have their way not so long ago? Hypocrites!

It’s very sad that we’re leaving the EU tbh.

I’m not going to ruin anyone’s superficial celebrations but I refuse to ‘pull together’ with the leavers. I’d rather just leave them to it and then gloat when everything goes tits up. And yes, that is quite childish of me but we’re pretty much out of other options.

Luckily I don’t think I’ll even notice any celebrations. I’m only close to one person who voted leave and that’s my mum and she doesn’t want to leave now so won’t be celebrating.

On the lot of you. Own your dump.

The thing is, it's hard to get behind an idea that is going to make the majority of us worse off in the short term. As I have mentioned before, I work for a very large FMCG company and they've already warned us 2020 is going to be a tough year - competitive market, reacting to the future, sustainability impact and of course rising costs of raw materials. I know who I will be blaming when the company doesn't pay out very much on the 2020 business performance bonus..
I’m being made redundant and one of the reasons cited by the CEO is Brexit, so apologies if I’m not jumping with joy that we are leaving the EU!

I don't necessarily agree with disrupting the celebrations to be honest. Was there deceit and a misunderstanding/lack of communication about the good and bad aspects of the EU during the campaign in the run up to the referendum? Absolutely. Will many people be celebrating something that in the short to medium term at least is going to make them considerably worse off without really knowing it? Absolutely, but remainers disrupting the celebrations will only cause further chaos.

I'm sad that we're leaving, I truly believe it is absolutely the wrong decision, I will not be joining in the celebrations, but I'm not going to ruin someone's night of fun by doing something that will only cause further divide.
