Boris arriving at the palace now to see The Queen. ITV saying Queen's speech to be on Thursday so he's not letting the grass grow under his feet.

This is the worst possible case scenario, and I feel crushed. The damage Boris Johnson emboldened by a majority will inflict is just unthinkable. Ah well, at least Chris and co got what they wanted.

Have to say though, what happened to Jo Swinson is PURE comedy gold. I didn't think that would actually happen!

It really is. The literal only worse case scenario would have bren Newcastle and Sunderland declaring for Tories first - and it nearly happened.

At least Jo got her comeuppance!

Media bias is partly to blame for this result but I also put a lot if the blame squarely at Swinson's feet. Coming out with a campaign that stole Laboyr's thunder, refusing to compromise or work together, dragging Jeremy harder than Boris, and then pivoting to coming across as up herself, unlikable and out of her depth completely screwed the pooch and muddied the message going out.

What did it win you, ultimately Jo? A quarter of the SNP's seats despite standing in 500 more, and losing your own seat. Talk about reaping chaos.

100% agreed.

She would probably say it was worth it to keep Corbyn out.

She seemed to dislike Corbyn more than Bojo.

What Corbyn needed was that govt pf national unity. If he were in no.10 and the sky didn't fall, people would have been reassured and gone against the press lies (and stopped a 2nd secret brexit referendum!) and it would have gone much better. Bojo already being in no.10 without thr sky falling made lesser of two evils voters go for him.

When was the first secret one?

Nicole Sturgeon talking live now demanding a second referendum on Scottish independence.

Boris won't give her one.

Yeh he will have to but he will hold back as long as possible.
Sidenote: did all of the TIGgers/Change UK/the ones that flipped back to Lib Dem lose their seats in the end up? Saw that Umuna and Soubry did.

What are you on about? It was Labour, not the Lib Dems who refused to vote for a referendum on the deal. Labour were approached to join the Remain Alliance discussions. They declined.

How did the Lib Dems steal Labour's thunder? They have been calling for a referendum on the deal since June 2016. Labour have been dithering on the issue since June 2016.

Of course a lot of the early part of the Lib Dem campaign centred around the leader. She only got the job in July, so was not very well-known. Most new Lib Dem leaders at least get a couple years or more before they have to lead an election campaign. That didn't happen this time.

Just noticed that Tony Blair's old seat of Sedgefield went to the Tories, too. :o
