How dare they have someone who doesn't worship de Pfeffel? They should be closed down.

Apparently the BBC were interested but Sky got in first. He'll make it all about him anyway. I shall watch BBC1 as usual.

Some Tory policy regarding immigration and benefits, announce in a Boris statement today.

All migrants will pay a £625 surcharge for NHS care, regardless of whether or not they use the health service, under Boris Johnson’s post-Brexit immigration policy. EU migrants who move to the UK will no longer receive preferential treatment, the prime minister claimed in a statement today.

Tory immigration policies also include a five-year wait to obtain welfare payments, as Mr Johnson pledges to bring the number of migrants down ‘overall’. All migrants would be treated the same from January 2021 under the new Conservative plans.

Or, in other words, a stealth tax on people who have the audacity not to be British.

Lovely to see that they would deny benefits to, for an example, an immigrant who sustained serious injuries in a racist attack.

Or, in other words, a stealth tax on people who have the audacity not to be British.

It's not a stealth tax but a wait until they've paid in to the system which is fair to me.

It's a stealth tax.

We all gain from state payments before we pay anything in. Who do you think paid the medical costs of your birth?

Yes but we're British Citizens. We can't have the whole world coming here and getting free health care and benefits! One of the conditions of Nita's relatives' visitors visas was that they couldn't work, study or access any healthcare except in a life or death emergency and no state benefits during their 6 months' stay.

Sky saying that Ryan Houghton, the Tory candidate for Aberdeen North has tonight been suspended by the party for holocaust denial, homophobic and islamophobic remarks. Further details to follow.

One of my dad's namesakes, Patrick English, makes some predictions here. https://twitter.com/PME_Politics/status/1196191858688503809

Also delighted to share our first seat forecast, based on the VI models.

Who is suggesting that the whole world can come here?

All parties are assumed to vet their candidates. Any party that can't even spot comments that might be construed as denial of the Holocaust is doing something very wrong.

Maybe he's only just made those remarks today or something.

How does that make it OK?

It doesn't but you said they'd been missed in the vetting process. Maybe he was vetted and then made the remarks.

Yeah, because he wouldn’t have given any previous indication that he might be a right-wing nut job.

These far right authoritarian freaks that Bojo the Bloat is trying to get into parliament are not fit whatsoever to sit in it. Vote every tory down!! They deserve 0 seats.

Have you missed the news that he's been suspended as a candidate and will probably be barred from standing soon?

I don't dislike the Lib Dems but I find Ms Swinson actively offputting for her what I see as petty behaviour through and through since she took the leadership.

You are not at a kiddies party voting on who gets to wear the plastic crown, Jo. You're on one side trying to oust the Tories and stop Brexit. Act like it.

Well I certainly won't be watching the Sky News' all night election coverage. One of their special guests to discuss the results as they come in will be John Bercow.

I rather watch a test card than a political debate - the former would certainly be more interesting. :P

Zero probabilty of a Labour majority. :o

On *current* polling.

BTW, what's the betting that Michael gives polls more credibility, the higher % they give to Labour... :teresa:

Vetting tends to be cursory for candidates in seats where a party has no chance of winning.
