February 18, 20205 yr I understand the whole female nominations argument, but it's kind OF always been 'a thing' really with certain artists being ignored during certain years. I have to say I think it depends on the caliber of artists/albums/songs released that year etc...for example I don't rate much to Charlie XCX at all, whether she thinks she deserves a host of nominations or not, it'sa bout the quality of the music, not the gender. However, I don't rate much to the male nominees this year either. If the music is good and critically acclaimed/commercially successful (Adele, Adele, Duffy, Amy, Lady Gaga in recent years) it does get acknowledged
February 18, 20205 yr ^ FKA Twigs was the most acclaimed UK album of 2019 by far she should at least be nominated even if considered too alternative to win
February 18, 20205 yr This was actually the most I've enjoyed watching the BRITs for a very long time, fair play to them as I had pretty low expectations from the rather underwhelming nominations lists. It helps that they had a pretty stacked line-up of good performers - Dave was fantastic, I also really enjoyed Lizzo, Harry and Billie, and although I wasn't a great fan of their song choices I can appreciate that Mabel, Stormzy (he picked practically all of the songs I care for the least from his album minus 'Wiley Flow' oops!) and Celeste performed well too, it was only really Lewis and Rod that had proper snoozers. Added to that them having some actually surprisingly inspired winners - Tyler, The Creator winning his award is a fantastic result and I love that he was actually there to call out Theresa May in his acceptance speech as well *.* and also was a great surprise to see Dave winning AOTY, definitely the deserved winner for me but I was certain it'd go to Lewis or maybe Stormzy - and Lizzo being hilarious in her appearances throughout, I underestimated the BRITs this year ~ (although yes, next year needs to have more female representation of course - it was good to see several of the winners acknowledging this in their speeches)
February 19, 20205 yr Very underwhelming winners except for Billie Eilish. I am also unhappy with the Song of the Year winner when Vossi Bop and Ladbroke Grove deserved it.
February 19, 20205 yr You might all hate Lewis but being 1000% unbiased, if one song deserved it sure it was SYL :)
February 19, 20205 yr I didn't realise Tyler the Creator had won - definitely a deserved win there, I was so late to the album but it is absolutely fantastic
February 19, 20205 yr Being 1000% unbiased, Charli deserved to win in fairness credit to them for making a couple of correct/curveball picks (Foals especially), will probably give Dave's performance a watch later~
February 19, 20205 yr 'Being 1000% unbiased, this song that I like a lot deserved to win' Yeah everyone else is related to the nominees
February 19, 20205 yr this thread tho They’re never boring when I’m in them  Hi and good afternoon to everyone today though! I would like to say thanks to those who had my back last night and to those disagreeing with me that’s fine too I’ve messaged you all anyways and I’m sure it won’t get to that level again
February 19, 20205 yr It was boring the minute you started but what’s done is done. I didn’t start anything but again what’s some is done   it’s comments like that from the likes of you and others what cause stuff like this cause you can’t handle having it done back to you. But yeah I’ll let you have your moment you obviously don’t like me for some reason and you’re clearly gonna be on your pals side over mine which is cool.
February 19, 20205 yr anyway... let's get back on topic and learn when to drop things. It was a better show than I did expect last night, and it was nice to see a range of different winners, even with the reduced categories. Dave was certainly the surprise performer of the night considering he was the one I was least interested in! It was a great idea to have the Critics Choice winner perform too, nice that the award wasn't actually a skimover like it has been previously. It's a shame there wasn't that 'on the night' big name surprise performer but it doesn't matter too much. I'd just love a bit more spontaneity again, Lizzo was another highlight of the night just because she brought that back. Like it's the first time those awkward chats have actually worked because she has the personality to actually make them work!
February 19, 20205 yr Does anyone have a full list of winners or direct me to where the list may be in this thread. I didn’t watch last night.

June 29, 20204 yr Just seen that next years ceremony will be held in May!! Very strange to not have it in February as usual. I wonder if that means the eligibility period will be extended a little.
