18. Orphans (9/28 votes, 32.14%)

So our next to leave is one that isn't that surprising given how recent it is but is a lot more surprising when you see that it had no votes the previous round and jumps to the runaway leader with 9! I guess we all had a similar target plan but wow. Anyway, we lose our most recent addition to Coldplay's back catalogue and released as a joint single with Arabesque from the newly crowned number 1 album (*.*) Everyday Life, a relatively small hit thus far, though it's done the best out of anything from the album thus far (and having listened to it, I'm not sure we'll get many more hits here oops). While it's very much the standard Coldplay formula in sound is deceiving in both hinting at the album's tone and its own as a song, it's lyrics are actually rather dark and morose in tone reflecting the life of Syrian refugees and orphans. I think most of the more upbeat Coldplay songs on the album aren't highlights and feel quite out of place in what is a very experimental album, but I enjoyed this when I heard it (even if Arabesque>>>) and it does fit in well despite its jovial style. Time will tell if it will become a big favourite, but I'm good with it now even though there are better on the album.

Now everyone be like me and Bré and stan the true highlight from the album, Daddy

Anyway...

Just goes to show nothing is safe even if it had 0 votes the round before :o

Got to go for their sell-out pop moments now as much as I shamelessly enjoy them, Princess of China first.

Great result there, I really don't think Orphans will ever be as good as the 17 we are now left with. Going for Midnight now.

love Princess of China, it's a weirdo song but in a good way

voting for Every teardrop again

can't believe you are voting off their best song to date....

I was thinking just how wonderful it was that the gloriously underrated Midnight lasted this long, looks like it may be running out of luck </3
just me that prefers their later stuff then? Trouble is easily my least favourite left but I see no-one else has gone for it.

yeah, it should last much much longer. :(

Gone for Every Teardrop

Wish they'd release a Coldplay Greatest Hits CD.

Oh hell no @ the sudden surge for 'Midnight' (I mean I expected it'd go fairly soon due to not being a hit but it wasn't in danger at all last time so...)

I voted for 'Princess Of China', let's have another vote for that and no more for 'Midnight' pls. I think despite the Rihanna collab this isn't one I'd categorise as a 'sellout pop song' from them (it's actually a fairly unusual song by the standards of UK top 5 hits and am sure it'd have never been picked as a single if not for Rihanna being on it). But it is the weakest of the remaining songs. After that's gone it's really going to be picking the least 10/10 out of the remaining 10/10 songs lol ~ (I think I'll likely end up being stuck on 'Magic' for a while, despite that being a #1 in my personal chart).

Also I of course greatly endorse all stanning of 'Daddy' and its video xx
