December 15, 20196 yr Wham! are really not very far behind Mariah even on Spotify (and they've closed the gap by 12k since this time last week). I really wouldn't be that surprised if they manage to stay ahead of her. But that could just be because of the Last Christmas film and they'll revert to being comfortably behind Mariah next year, who knows. Like last week this First Look update is going to be pretty meaningless anyway so we won't really be able to tell much until the later mids. Stormzy actually being in the top 2 already even with the missing data is a decent sign for him, I wouldn't have been surprised if he was only #3/4 in the First Look (as he had been lower than he should have been the last 2 weeks).

December 15, 20196 yr I agree, it was more an open question. But it did achieve that feat in 2017 (admittedly thru a combination of factors) but I wouldn't be too surprised if it did outpeak Mariah this year as well. Last Christmas only spent one week ahead of Mariah in 2017, which was of course the New Year chart, most likely fuelled by George's unfortunate passing. It's not spent any other weeks ahead of Mariah, it's worth mentioning! I think Mariah has only cemented herself as the public's favourite Christmas classic this decade, though Wham! moved into a very comfortable #2, unseating The Pogues from being a true contender nowadays.
December 15, 20196 yr I'm very torn though. Love Stormzy and what an amazing achievement it would be to get a Xmas #1 but this particular song just doesn't really do anything for me :/ Then LadBaby would both get me some money and be another victory for the underdog. Plus I'd be able to take Seven's seat as the new forum psychic :cool:
