Why didn't Julia keep Sorry for herself to release after Issues?!

It's no Hello, but it's an okay pop bop if you like cheap beats.

This song is... not really THAT bad but it does come across pretty painfully underwhelming mainly because they forgot to write a proper chorus for it. It might have been decent if not for that, the instrumental is pretty good (it does sound a lot like Ariana's trap-pop songs as some others have said). I think the lyrics look horribly cringeworthy when written out but they somehow don't bother me as much in the actual song. Still just a little embarrassing though. And it's blatantly a cynical attempt to appeal to TikTok which I guess would be a shrewd business move from him but it doesn't look like it's really worked, think he made it a little too obvious...

While I'm aware that this should be objectively bad, I can't stop singing it in my head and subsequently returning to it for a full listen. It's painfully catchy?

I am excited for a full Bieber era to get going. When he's good, he's brilliant!

i like his ambition thinking there’s a possibility it won’t go to number one when in reality there’s a possibility it will debut out the top 10
I can understand why the prospect of a number one would be exciting and why an artist would want the best for their song, but this screams of blind ignorance at the fact the song just isn't good enough. He genuinely appears to think it's a fault on the fans' behalf that it isn't performing better.
I thought the song was alright but I don't think I've ever known a single campaign to be this pathetic and desperate, it's actually hilarious.

Him and Scooter Braun really do go hand-in-hand. Tragic, really.

I'm glad this male popstar mediocrity isn't being rewarded with instant success — most releasing this would do nothing with it.

He is selling 5 different variations of vinyl which spell out the title of the song (which, you may note, only has 3 unique letters in it).

And people are limited to 4 in one checkout so they have to register 2 sales to get the full set.

I get artists pulling out the stops to try and push themselves to #1 but it gets to a point where the underhanded tactics are just a little TOO much. And it probably won't even work! It's what Scooter deserves tho x

This isn’t aimed just at him because I’ve seen lots of other artists do it but I do think it’s very exploitative of fans for artists to release 10 million different versions of one product just to get an artificial chart position. There’s a difference between asking fans to buy one copy of a song or creating exciting different versions of a product because you want to and releasing crap for the sake of it.

Yeah it's definitely not just him doing it of course - Travis Scott and The Weeknd are big offenders as well (hence their recent Hot 100 #1s dying off much harder and faster than every other more organic #1), and similar tactics have been used by a ton of others to varying degrees of success. But I'm pretty sure this is the most extreme and obviously exploitative example I've seen of it to date, and it's so transparently being done because he knows the song isn't popular enough to get to #1 on its own merits.

The fact that it's only a 24 hour sale as well... I guess if he wanted to sell multiple physical variants to give big fans some nice collectable stuff then whatever, but it's so obvious what the real reason for him doing this is.

Looking forward to seeing how much it drops in its second week :magic:

Didn't Taylor also try something similar with the equally awful ME!?
And in a now deleted Instagram post he was encouraging fans outside the USA to use a VPN to stream the song and have it count to the US chart (as well as asking US fans to leave it on repeat on Spotify while they sleep)... this just gets more ridiculous every day.
Delete the song from all streaming platforms and give us another Sorry and we'll forgive you Justin x

Like, is it really good to have an artificially boosted number one rather than a top ten?

It would be fairly obvious if the album ends up selling badly that no one was really there for the single to begin with. Just better to just wait and see if the song catches on for whatever reason and quickly move on.
