December 30, 20204 yr Author Surely Services can be thrashed out later. :D Yes from a position of massive weakness for the UK, from which the EU has already got what it wants and will be under no time obligation. Can't see that being a problem for the UK! :D
December 30, 20204 yr May, of all people, got it spot on earlier. The EU has the deal they wanted on Goods but the UK didn’t proceed with getting a deal on Services and we’ve shafted ourselves.

The EU has the deal they wanted on Goods but the UK didn’t proceed with getting a deal on Services and we’ve shafted ourselves. Indeed. The Maybot, like a broken clock, is right occasionally... * @1344236028178132992 *still a terrible PM and the worst ever Secretary of State for the GO HOME office.
December 30, 20204 yr Completely agree. It’s a tragedy for women that both Female PMs of the UK have been utter horrors
December 30, 20204 yr Completely agree. It’s a tragedy for women that both Female PMs of the UK have been utter horrors The last two Old Etonian PMs have also been appalling.
December 30, 20204 yr Shouldn’t we have a referendum about this decision? An overwhelming majority of 51% voted to leave this thread and cut all ties with it.
December 31, 20204 yr I see Boris's father, Stanley Johnson, has applied for French Citizenship, saying "I will always be a European"
December 31, 20204 yr You just couldn't make it up! The posh boys will all be okay, as they xan apply for citizenship elsewhere. Even Farage teied to get German citizenship the day after the ref!!!
December 31, 20204 yr You just couldn't make it up! The posh boys will all be okay, as they xan apply for citizenship elsewhere. Even Farage teied to get German citizenship the day after the ref!!! Well good luck to them I say. I believe he has a home there too. Personally I wouldn't want to live anywhere than this great country that I was born in. From Reuters: Stanley Johnson, a former member of the European Parliament who voted Remain in Britain’s 2016 referendum, told RTL radio he wanted to become a French citizen because of strong family links to France. “If I understand it correctly, I am French. My mother was born in France, her mother was totally French as was her grandfather. So for me it is about reclaiming what I already have. And that makes me very happy,” said the 80-year-old Johnson, who was speaking in French. “I will always be a European, that’s for sure. One cannot tell the British people: you are not Europeans. Having a tie with the European Union is important,” he added. Edited December 31, 20204 yr by CHRIS-TMAS
December 31, 20204 yr But what do you think it says about the whole project if the architects of it want to keep THEIR European citizenship, but deny it to everyone else?
December 31, 20204 yr Johnson's sister Rachel is also applying according to The Guardian today. I could get Irish Citizenship as my dad was Irish but have no intention of doing so. Edited December 31, 20204 yr by CHRIS-TMAS
December 31, 20204 yr Author Johnson's sister Rachel is also applying according to some sources today. THRILLING though it is, please don't keep us updated on the citizenship applications of every member of the Johnson family and keep on topic. It's not hypocritical or unexpected as both campaigned for remain and Boris would have done too if he thought it would have given him power.

December 31, 20204 yr In fairness anyone who comes to Ireland as an EU worker can eventually come to the UK anyway and get Eu settlement status through entering NI due to the Common Travel area so looks like control of immigration isn't something that will actually be possible in reality  The Little Englanders wont realise this for a while yet and Boris will be long gone
December 31, 20204 yr I wonder if this means that every 31st January will be a bank holiday? I think it should be Edited December 31, 20204 yr by Hadji
December 31, 20204 yr Author I wonder if this means that every 31st January will be a bank holiday? I think it should be Why would you possibly want a Bank Holiday in late January when it's dark, cold and (probably) wet?
December 31, 20204 yr Why would you possibly want a Bank Holiday in late January when it's dark, cold and (probably) wet? Because it’s our Independence Day like America’s is 4th July
