It's cute and catchy, but wow, talk of having no progression whatsoever. If anything this is a regression - bring back the girl who had songs like Alarm and Karate :(.

Her career trajectory is actually v similar of Bebe Rexha imo! Well in terms of quality at least, starting off releasing really interesting pop songs then selling out as soon as she has a whiff of success with the occasional bop.

There is no sense of who she is as an artist at all imo, at least with other pop girls like that like Rita and Zara, they have the quality to back them up.

Karate's obviously miles off anything that came from Speak Your Mind but I don't think a song like this is that far off Alarm? Especially when you consider Ciao Adios and FRIENDS came in between, it all feels quite natural to me. I see it more for 2002 with the Ed co-write but Speak Your Mind works as a strong, cohesive album to my ears. Birthday's not a huge progression overall but I'm surprised you don't know who she is as an artist because the album gave me a strong indication!
Its definitely growing on me after more listens, but I still think its a bit of a step back sound wise. It doesn't scream big 1st single to me.

This is seriously appalling, perhaps even as bad as '2002'.

There have been artists I've disliked during their debut era who've turned it around after (like Rita Ora for example), I was hoping on the off-chance she might manage to do the same. But nope, she hasn't got it in her.

not as bad as 2002, which I accidentally heard at the gym yesterday and cringed like 5 times at those lyrics, but agree, nearly as appalling
Christ, this is awful, dreading the thought of hearing this at every birthday gathering ever one day. Guess it didn't work for Katy Perry (and hers was better).

This is really bad, it’s tough not to cringe at it.

It’s crazy how hit and miss she is!

This is honestly dismal. It's everything that made her so untolerable last era condensed into one song. How did she go from Alarm and Ciao Adios to this?

I really like Anne-Marie and nearly everything she has put out so far and I thought her album was good but literally WTF is this?! I couldn’t even listen to it all the way through!

I can’t believe she along with her record label and management thought it would be a good idea to release this career killer of a song, I think the fact it’s only limped to #18 on iTunes so far in such a low sales climate says all there is about its potential success, what an awful move from team AM.

This song is so childish... Katy Perry's Birthday and Jessie J's It's My Party are way better

Let’s not say things we can’t take back!

Birthday themed pop songs over the last 10 years:

It’s my party >>

Not people highlighting 'Ciao Adios' as a good song from her when it's one of her worst

This song sounds so cheap? Like it's giving me strong 'debut single by YouTuber trying to make music for the lolz' vibes.

Predictably awful, begone x
