Bon Apetit is a bop

This. I always forget there's still a couple of people in 2020 who don't appreciate Bon Appetit and then I come to Buzzjack :P.

The video is only 20 million away from a billion views now! :o

'Teary Eyes' is everything - that's the album she should have aimed for.

The sample used in 'Not the End of the World' :cheeseblock:

Her best album since TD. Nothing comes close to the absolute pop masterpiece that is 'Never Really Over', but it's a thoroughly enjoyable listen.

They really went and f***ed up what could have been a great singles campaign didn't they?

Cry About it Later, Not The End of the World, Teary Eyes, Champagne Kisses, Tucked are perfection? Teary Eyes and NTEOTW are a bit dated sounding bangers, but CK and Tucked are so fresh, almost Future Nostalgia sounding?

Yup

1st single: Never Really Over

2nd single: Not the End of the World

3rd single: Teary Eyes

4th single: Tucked/Cry About It Later

...if they'd have gone with something like that, I'd imagine we'd be looking at a much more accomplished era.

I actually love/like every single song, I hope 'High On Your Supply' is available on streaming because It's good! 'Teary Eyes', 'Not The End Of The World', 'Champagne Problems' and 'Tucked' are my favourites after first listen. I have to praise the flow of the album too, each song complements the one before/after pretty well!

The album is up 50 places on Amazon since she gave birth, can Rih have a baby before R9 tyvm

(Jk of course :gaga:)

Her lyricism on this album is really.. not that great, neither is the cohesion of sound. I'm always so conflicted with Katy's albums because she has the makings of what makes a strong pop star, she just never fully puts that into her music. We always get a few tracks which are amazing, then some that are great and then some that are meh.

Never Really Over / HIH being on the album really helps with boosting the high points because the intended-for-Smile tracks aren't that great for the most part.

Daisies is a really nice song, especially considering what she has been through. Smile / Resilient and End of the World are quite lacklustre, they don't have those catchy, blazing KP hooks. Teary Eyed is good, but it's very dated and doesn't go anywhere towards the end when it really could have. (Roulette remains superior)

Y'all said Champagne Problems was good so I raised my expectations and eh.. not sure if they were met? I enjoy the production and flow of the song but that "crust in my eyes" lyric is so horrible, it's very "i don't wanna shower, even if i stink" from Zara. Her vocal runs/belts at the end, especially the climax, are some of my favourite Katy vocal moments, though. Not all bad.

Tucked was okay as well, I enjoyed the guitar riff but GOD going from Champagne Problem's sort of 80s/disco inspired-tinge to a 00s guitar-heavy led song is really giving me whiplash. Only Love is probably my favourite, lyrically. It's quintessential Katy, very honest with just a touch of cheese, but given what she's gone through in the last few years, it's a given.

What Makes a Woman is short but sweet, the melody is easy-going and I feel like its very telling of the album's sound and what she wanted to achieve. But the completely different sounds just.. let it down.

I've just realized I need 'Not The End Of The World (feat. Ariana Grande)' as a single at some point. It would suit her so well!

I flip flop on ‘Smile’ way too much. I actually like the song now.

The album is leagues ahead of ‘Witness’ and isn’t as patchy as ‘Prism’. I’m loving ‘Teary Eyed’ & ‘Cry About It Later’. ‘What Makes A Woman’ is very sonically catchy also. I’m impressed.

Just listened and wow. I'm so impressed, wasn't expecting it to be anywhere near this good.

Ranking on first listen (this will probably all completely change  ):

1. Only Love

2. Never Really Over

3. Cry About It Later

4. Teary Eyes

5. Smile

6. Resilient

7. Daisies

8. Champagne Problems

9. What Makes A Woman

10. Not The End of the World

11. Tucked

12. Harleys In Hawaii

The main thing that I love about Only Love is the lyrics, especially in the chorus.

The top 4 are all amazing. I actually quite like Harleys in Hawaii but it's definitely my least favourite on the album.

I’ve only listened once, but there were no lowlights. A fab and very Katy Perry album. It’s not even been that long and I’ve missed her so much omfg

I’d love a top 3 debut but we’re looking at #5 minimum so at least it’ll be better than Witness. I’m trying not to be bothered about numbers, she’s just had a baby she doesn’t give a f*** :’)

This is definitely a LOT better than what Witness was a whole piece.

It was cohesive enough that all the tracks flowed well and the story of the albums message seemed clear too.

Smile the song being a single was questionable when she had Not The End Of The World right there! That was my favourite album track on first listen. Only Love a close second.

I’d say a few songs feel too short and could’ve done with like an extra 30 seconds length or so the closing track definitely ends a bit abruptly.

It's a GREAT album and mostly really cohesive!! I don't think the title track fits all that well but I do actually really like it these days.

I think she's totally f***ed up the singles though. At this point, we should have had a run of:

1 Never Really Over (unchanged)

2 Harleys In Hawaii (instead of Small Talk as originally planned)

3 Cry About It Later (when Harleys got released, so November-time, but with a full push)

4 Daisies (unchanged)

5 Teary Eyes (leading into album)

And then Not the End of the World for a post-album single if they wanted to do that. I think we'd be in a better position with the above! :(

That aside, I can already tell I'm going to peep this album so much more than Witness  I enjoyed every song to some extent, Resilient is the weakest moment on first play but that was still pretty great.
