March 13, 20206 yr Author Conan Gray moving up is surprising to see - they normally only support pure pop if it's either a big name or doing well on iTunes or Spotify and as far as I know it's ticking none of those boxes currently, so I don't get why they're so eagerly on board with him. Another surprise is HRVY - they've added a couple of singles from him in the past but they snubbed his last one. And it's not like this one is doing particularly well? And then there's Duke Dumont - who has only been seen on the playlist once in the last 5 years. Intriguing that they've added him! Great to see the new one from Glass Animals on there. Thought Rita and Ellie might be insta-added but they should both be added next week I'd have thought.
March 13, 20206 yr Author A very apt time for Foals' Wash Off to be on the playlist! Imagine if Corona was popular at the moment... the UK public are so stupid they'd probably stop listening to her
March 13, 20206 yr Author Is this the first time a Kim Petras song has been on the playlist? Indeed it is
March 13, 20206 yr Boo at no Rita Ora and removing Bieber too soon Edited March 13, 20206 yr by Hadji
March 13, 20206 yr 'Therapy' :o wow that was a pleasant surprise  also glad to see Glass Animals, Jack Garratt and Taylor Swift turning up!
March 13, 20206 yr Glad to see City of Angels and The Man added, also glad Kim is on the playlist even if it is far from her best work Surprised Boyfriend is already on the A-List, but its looking to be about a Mad Love sized hit I'd say
March 13, 20206 yr Shocked but happy at Duke Dumont! When was the last time R1 playlisted him? Hooray for Taylor, that's definitely by far and away my favourite song from this era now. Also nice to see Kim Petras get a playlist add.
March 13, 20206 yr Author Shocked but happy at Duke Dumont! When was the last time R1 playlisted him? 2017 with 'Real Life', and the time before that was the marvellous 'Ocean Drive' in 2015!

He's got a fair bit of online hype to be fair, and it's a refreshing change to see them on board with a new popstar like him - it's just depressing that Spotify have now removed it from Hot Hits UK after keeping it at the very bottom for ages. You wonder why they even bothered.
March 13, 20206 yr Wow, Kim Petras suddenly being R1 playlisted seems a bit out of leftfield! Some good adds this week from Glass Animals, Jack Garratt and Taylor Swift (24kGoldn and Duke Dumont are also decent). Can we not at HRVY though. (Not that I've heard the song yet x) A very apt time for Foals' Wash Off to be on the playlist! They released a 'PSA music video' for the song so I think they're well aware of the coincidental timing lol x
March 19, 20206 yr For obvious reasons, Radio 1 have stopped playing Sam smith’s ‘To Die For’. I’m guessing that it will probably be removed from the playlist tomorrow.
