Australian government: STAY AT HOME UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY THAT YOU GO OUT, DANGER!

Also Australian government: Yeah mate send your kids to school they’re fine all good man

Edited by Dexton

It's still not strict enough.

I'm off work today but just from social media/talking to friends it seems like things are exactly the same as yesterday. 'Key workers' is still so vague and unfortunately a majority of people work in office and call centre jobs so absolutely nothing has changed for them. Apparently the trains and busses are still busy and there's various shops and cafes open in the town plus people strolling up and down as normal - there's even car park wardens working as usual.

I was praying I'd hear that my work would close or get an email saying they're making us work from home but nope, I've to go back tomorrow. The most frustrating thing for me is - I know this sounds a bit stingy considering the climate - the fact that I'm on a shit hourly wage and the agency I'm employed with can't even give me a pay rise considering I'm f***ing working in a busy office and every shift I'm sitting at a completely different desk.

If you're classified as a 'key worker' then they need to be more specific about what that is (I'm aware there's a list of categories on Gov UK but employers can still twist and interpret it the way they want) and there should be a discount on travel/wage increase considering it's the key workers who are most at risk.

I sort of wish I just stopped working, isolated for a week and then moved in at my families house until this is over. :(

Been there, done that.

I’m stranded in New Zealand. The foreign office was useless, they told everyone to come home way too late. Booked a flight and wasn’t allows to board as while I managed to gain exemption for the Australia travel ban to non-citizens, Dubai thought it would be a laugh to shut their airport early. I can’t describe to you the utter chaos on the other side of the world, luckily I accepted I was probably stuck here about 24 hours ago as everything changed so quickly over here. Consoled many Europeans in Christchurch airport today, both young and old, we are all effectively refugees now and lockdown starts in 24 hours time.

I’m with friends so we are renting an air bnb. Only way I’m getting home in the next few months is through a repatriation effort.

How do you even afford to live while stranded in a country you're not officially resident in?? I assume that many youngish Europeans on extended holidays in Oceania, South East Asia and South America are between jobs but have saved up for only several weeks, not several months.

My contract ends in June and I'm not optimistic about my ability to make a living over the summer and I don't really want to rely on the French state. I still have two months to think about this but I may also be stranded at some point, albeit far closer to family than over there.

My work wasn't too bad, still quite a few idiots feeling the need to go in for a bottle of a coke or a £1 scratchcard though. I guess if you're going on your one walk and coming past, but if it was me I'd just go once a week into the shops and get what I need, plus have my daily walks. It just seems irresponsible to take that risk going into a more enclosed space with people for something so stupid!

The big Asda down the road was apparently rammed though and we had loads of people I don't recognise presumably from there, but most people were buying like bread and milk or fruit and veg.

i’m lucky enough that i’ll be receiving 80% of my pay from the government whilst i’m off. i’ve signed up to volunteer with the NHS doing anything i can during this time of crisis. i couldn’t sit at home, getting paid money and doing nothing to help during the greatest crisis of our lifetimes

Absolutely incredible!

So apparently Israel is going into full lockdown with no going further than 100 meters from your house. Supermarkets are reported to also be ordered to close.

Goodness me. Any confirmation when that happen. That is extreme. What the hell are you meant to do about provisions?

I think it’s from tomorrow. They will deliver everything to homes China style as far as I was told.

This is just me being me and I’m thinking of everything in the world rn.

But just imagine someone really powerful gets this (I’m thinking royal family member, or boris, Donald) and like the worst happened.

Would the funeral rule still apply? (Like do rules we follow apply to those people).

I bloody hope it does. Having a big ass funeral in times like these would not only be stupid, but also incredibly irresponsible and would anger many
