April 2, 20205 yr it's a pity Lady Gaga and Gerry Cinnamon didn't stick to the original release date, could have been quite the chart battle I can imagine the meltdown in here :o
April 2, 20205 yr Can't wait for tomorrow even if somehow magically now 5SOS ends up #1. It was fun to be part of this even my 36 year old self lol.
April 2, 20205 yr I'm understand us wanting Dua to go to number one this week but surely her team are aware that she'll probably be number one next week? I don't get why they're wasting their potential profit by discounting the album so much. At least 5SOS donated theirs to the NHS. Edited April 2, 20205 yr by sammy01
April 2, 20205 yr it's a pity Lady Gaga and Gerry Cinnamon didn't stick to the original release date, could have been quite the chart battle I can imagine the meltdown in here :o Except that Gerry has 0 fans (literally) on this site and the debate would have been on one side only (Gaga). Dua vs 5SOS was fun because of both fans presence on this forum.

I’m sure a certain poster who only turns up to put female artists and their fans down would have made an appearance to big Gerry up.
April 2, 20205 yr At 29 pages (so far) is this up there with the midweeks threads with the most pages / posts? Dua Lipa should easily be number 1 tomorrow as her actual streams for yesterday (Wednesday) and estimated streams for today will easily increase her lead over 5SOS. I'm going to make a guess here, I think Dua's sales will be around 35k to 38k when the chart is published tomorrow. Edited April 2, 20205 yr by Robbie
April 2, 20205 yr A quick search reveals this thread is the 2nd longest mids thread ever and only 24 (well now 23) posts away from matching the record which was set in the week 'Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)' came out back in 2007 :magic: (incidentally that record was very nearly broken by the Xmas #1 week mids thread for 2019, which this thread has only just overtaken) Posting this solely because it's interesting, not to encourage mindless spam to break the record, continue only posting if you have something actually worth contributing xx
April 2, 20205 yr If you combine the three mid threads created for Xmas #1 2009, then that wins with 16+15+18=49 pages

April 2, 20205 yr And now Dua has reduced the price of her album again from £4.99 to £3.99 on iTunes Don’t often download albums but £3.99 is an absolute bargain! :D B-)
April 3, 20205 yr Confirmed or unconfirmed, a gentle reminder not to post spoilers for the chart until Radio 1 and/or the OCC charts (at 5:45) have revealed them please

Music Week had just started publishing a digital edition of the magazine the previous month and I still have all those old PDF files from back then. I've just looked at the magazine for 1 December 2007 which covers the weekly chart from that midweeks thread and it's like stepping back to another time and place. A very young looking Adele was on the front cover as one to watch plus she had one of the Singles Of The Week with 'Chasing Pavements' even though it wasn't due out for another 6 weeks, DRM on downloads was the big talking point and filesharing was causing the industry major problems with the BPI undertaking an initiative to seek out people who were illegally downloading music (subsequent to this story it later turned out that the BPI had deliberately shared on LimeWire etc a number of mp3s including a Girls Aloud track and then took everyone who downloaded the file to court and sought damages of £8,000 from each person! It was downloading the Girls Aloud track 'Biology' that got people done.).
April 3, 20205 yr Wasn't the Rage against the machine xmas number 1 thread longer? As dan confirmed yes but the threads were divided up back then I think.
