Pretty surprised all of these actually made the top 20! I figured they would be somewhere in the 21-30 sections, but didn't realise they'd make it over some of the songs that didn't make it there. I'm surprised 'Backtrack' is Rebecca's highest, as I thought it'd be 'Nothing's Real But Love' (but then again I even like Backtrack a little so...)

'More & More' is definitely the biggest surprise for me!

No Promises "a good Westlife song"??? Tbf it does run the risk of sounding cheesy but Shayne's vocals are divine. I'm glad it is both his highest charting hit here and the highest charting male track.

Yes for Alexandra owning a quarter of the top 20. Some of those remaining tracks should have fallen out by now imo.

Ghost or Hallalujah to win

Screaming at how James Arthur was slaughtered here lmfao

We head into the top 20 with Fleur Easts 2nd single More & More. This 80's influenced pop banger is very underrated in terms of the charts and really deserved to do better on the charts... where it didn't chart at all! </3 Amazing to see that this made the top 20 all things considered

#19 is Rebecca Fergusons last entry in the rate and it was the top 15 hit Backtrack. I've said it before, I've never been a fan of Rebecca or more specifically her voice, but I bop to this occasionally. I don't go out my way to listen, but I do like it!

In at 18 is the huge power ballad The Silence by Alexandra Burke. This was an instant favourite from her debut album for me, especially in terms of ballad singles. I really believed it wasn't going to be a single, but thankfully after 'Start Without You', they decided to push for this. For the 5th single off of the album (6th if you include 'Hallelujah' or not) this managed to do well by peaking at #16.

In the words of Queen Louisa herself... "Best Behaviour is such a fucking tune... wtf" she claimed as Best Behaviour failed to (undeservedly) reach top 40. I understand that this may have been a grower for some, but once it hit... it HITS HARD. She was SO right with that tweet! One of my biggest chart injustices of last decade </3

Finally in this section we say goodbye to the 1st of 2 more entries for Diana Vickers. The Boy Who Murdered Love was the follow up single to her debut #1 smash 'Once' (which is unsurprisingly still to come) and it went on to under perform and chart at a measly #36, which wasn't/isn't ideal for a new artist following up a big #1 single. For me, she had SO much better on her debut album. This really doesn't go anywhere and it's not as "big" as it should be, so I for one, can see why it wasn't a hit. #JusticeForYoullNeverGetToHeaven #JusticeForNotice #JusticeForJumpingIntoRivers pretty much the entire album as I think TBWML (which I gave a decent "6" too) is the weakest on the album tbh. This shouldn't have gone as high as this in this rate tbh </3

I can’t bare Alexandra but The Silence really should’ve outlasted All Night Long and Bad Boys by her.

Broken Heels is the only tolerable thing she did for me.

Glow by Ella still being here

Best Behaviour is by far the best thing Louisa did too. Robbed of even just one week top 40 :( it really sounds like something Pixie Lott could’ve had a big hit with between 09-11

Diana Vickers album was fab & I still listen to it frequently

I loved her album but the best things on it for me were the album tracks.

Such missed opportunities pushing My Wicked Heart when the album had a lot of hidden gems.

A ballad like Put It Back Together or Me & You could’ve really sold her album in q4 of 2010.

Plus You’ll Never Get To Heaven and Remake Me and You were better choices for a single than The Boy Who Murdered Love. Two songs in a row about killing as a debut artist wasn’t a great move.

As for her second album I need to relisten to that

Fleur East also kicks off the second section of the top 20 with the last of her entries and her debut single Sax. This was a MASSIVE hit for Fleur. It went top 3 and managed to stick around for ages. It is also constantly used to soundbed numerous things on TV. I LOVED this at the time and although I don't love it as much now, it still bops!

Cher's 3rd single from her debut album Want U Back went on to be a decent top 30 hit for her. The most confusing thing about this campaign though was that they "remixed" this to feature flop US X Factor contestant Astro... but the song went on to become Cher's breakthrough hit in America without Astro, as it went on to smash the Billboard charts where it peaked at #12! Not surprising considering it was definitely the most radio friendly song she had released. Cher has 1 song left and it's top 10! Fantastic.

Alexandra Burke's coronation single falls out next at #13. Hallelujah was (or is?) the most successful coronation winners single in the history of The X Factor (although I think James Arthur's 'Impossible' takes that title now?). It's definitely one of the best coronation singles, if not THE best. I honestly expected worse for this so to see it as high as 13 is wonderful to see! THA BEAST has 3 entries left to come!

At #12 is the highest placed, X Factor Eurovision entry. Saara Aalto went on to represent Finland with Monsters at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. The song majorly under performed at the ceremony as it finished 25th out of 26 countries, despite performing 17th and being a bit of a fan favourite, somewhat. It's a catchy song! Deserved better in the Eurovision final tbh.

Then finally, just missing out on the top 10, we have the dull Glow by Ella Henderson. I really wasn't expecting this to finish as high as 11th for some reason. So bland and boring and such a disappointing follow up to the incredible 'Ghost' (which is still to come!). She should have released 'Pieces' or 'Empire' (which I heard for the first time last night) as the 2nd single. Ella still has 2 entries left!

is the top 10!

Predictions please :D

Ghost to win please.

I hope Broken Heels is Alex’s highest track.

I’m happy Glow got to #11 on this. I didn’t realise it was as popular I actually prefer it to Ghost now

Omg this has actually gone SO WELL (for once).

Sirens, Do You Think Of Me?, All Night Long top 10 is amazing. DYTOM? is my overall winner personally, but it's already far outdone my expectations! Slay x

Myself, StayatHaus, Jack & Liam are the only members to get all 3 of their 11's inside the top 10.

T A S T E

I'm also ECSTATIC that 'Sirens' is top 10

Surprised to see Glow do so well! Ty for the recs of other Ella H songs.

Over the moon to see Sax lower than some of those! Its such a cheap ripoff pushed by payola to get anywhere. I don't grudge Fleur the success but what a shame to have that dull song pigeonhole her from the off!
