The government are still lying about testing being readily available in care homes by the way, they are literally having to fight to access them according to the manager of my grandmother's home. My grandmother often has chest infections and at 86 is in the ‘highly vulnerable’ category so after developing some symptoms she eventually had a test but the results took TWO WEEKS to come back, fortunately negative. A complete joke frankly.

How come GP's can get them so easily then? Wife's employers, all three in the family, had one each and so did wife, as woman's sister is a GP. No symptoms. Doesn't seem right to me. I could have one she said too but have declined.

Cummings and the Government getting absolutely slaughtered again on the front pages tomorrow.

Boris trying to ride it out. They may do, but they've lost the general public now to make any measures effective. At least in the unfortunate event of a 2nd peak we know exactly who is to blame this time.

But he didnt mention the one thing that we all asked ourselves - why didnt his wife drive back?

I don’t think the public are going to ignore the restrictions as a result of this. Most people I know are either mildly annoyed at Boris and Dominic, or completely apathetic towards it. I don’t know anyone that says they feel more inclined to break the rules now after the revelations about Dominic.

I think a surprising amount of people literally don’t care about what Cummings did, and just want to crack on and ride out the storm with this virus.

The thing that keeps getting me is... is you have to drive 260 miles to find someone willing to look after your children, it says a lot about you as a person

Exactly. That remains one of the unanswered questions.

The government can jog on if they think people will do this 'only meet one household' thing.

Sorry, but those of us living in shared houses have had enough already. 3 months of locked in the house with no gardens, sharing with strangers we never expected to spend so much time with, and now they're saying that ONE of us will be allowed to socialise while the others can't? No. Not doing it.

I can't see how they would police it anyway, what proof do they have that you only went to say your mum's house and not your mum's house, then your boyfriend's house then your friend's house? Then again they just make everything up as they go so I doubt they even know at this point how they're going to do any of it.

Short of living on your own, everyone is gonna want to see different people. Like my mum is gonna want to see her own friends but then I wanna see my boyfriend, my friends, then there's family outside of the home. I get they can't just go "see who you want" though.

I feel like most people will be fairly responsible with it.

Frankly the government putting draconian rules in place is what's going to backfire.

People would be happy to abide by a reasonable restriction of freedoms, say, reducing the number of people you'd normally see by half. But trying to limit it to one person seeing one person and no more for months at a time is just ludicrous and will all but guarantee no-one except the most authoritarian will stick to it.

The thing is you lose the spirit of lockdown with these rules. Yes not everyone follows them, but you only need about 80% of people to follow them to be effective. It just creates a huge hole that the Government is too blind to see., because he obviously runns the show in No10. The more fearless people will use Cummings' actions to justify breaking the rules, or influence more people to use their own 'common sense' as I'm sure a lot of us have. I certainly can't remember anything like this before.

Cummings has told us all a great big lie and he does not show one ounce of remorse for his actions. The only way we are going to get rid of Cummings is by people breaking the rules.

It is hard to see how anyone can still take what they're saying seriously as long as Cummings remains, and it's still overshadowing all the news about updates. I'm certainly not planning to break the lockdown as I know my own safety, but I have a lot more understanding of rule breakers now. It's saddening honestly as this could so easily go away, but clearly the government are putting their own careers ahead of keeping the country safe and it could easily be detrimental for containing the virus.
I very much doubt many people will break the rules if they increase the gathering limit to 3 or 4 people on Monday up from 1. That’s the way to go in my opinion.

I wish I could say the same, literally everyone on my Facebook is saying they are going to do whatever they want now that Cummings has done that!

We should do some kind of poll about our leanings again. I feel like the assumptions we make about others are pretty firmly based on what we ourselves would do - which actually varies pretty strongly through the population.

Weird. Cos most people I know think he's an elitist lying tosspot. I guess that makes up the 58% of the population that think he should resign. And most people I know would prefer not to catch it at all and would quite like the government to do all the things theyve been promising to do for months.

Like testing.

Front page of the Star is fabulously handy today: a cut-out-and-keep face mask of Domiprick Cummings - just stick it over your face when out doing whatever you want and hey presto Boris Johnson will think anything you say is perfectly reasonable and rational and will you back you up no matter what. Very helpful.

In terms of allowing families to meet in the garden, I mean f***ity f*** off. That's already happening, everyone is taking a rational view that both sides have been following the rules and are safe, and maintain a 2m distance anyway.

Who the f*** do the government think they are "allowing" that, when they are opening up shops, on top of supermarkets, where you can mingle with literally hundreds of people in enclosed spaces half the tossers not keeping a safe distance, ignoring the rules, and doing what they want - see "Shopping in Asda". On VE Day the streets were flowing with people doing the Conga - did they get arrested? Errr, no. People are doing what they want and everyone knows they can just put on the Dom-Mask and say they have concerns about their child (make sure you have a child), are checking your dodgy eyesight cos you might have the virus, and are just dropping the kid off at your wealthy grandparents as soon as you've checked that your eyesight is OK enough to drive half the country - or else you're just going back to work.

Boris appearing before a Commons select Committee that Sky News is showing live, supposedly about the virus but it's all about Cummings so far. He's lying and talking bollocks again. He says the rules were clearly stated by him right when he first announced them "stay at home unless you can't work from home or have special childcare needs" His words just now. Liar. On that first Monday he never mentioned it. I'm starting to go off him you know.

I was willing to give him and the Government a bit of slack for their handling of the pandemic, but the past 3-4 days have reminded me exactly why I loathe him and the Brexit advisors which quite clearly run and govern the country. Johnson is just the front man.

I'm sure this story will get buried now, but Cummings is in the public eye more than ever and I'm not sure the Government can fully recover from this level of PR gaffe. It's the sheer ignorance to everybody that has lost their life and had personal sacrifices.
