Posted April 8, 20205 yr Welcome all! Following on from 2018's Singles Rate, it's time to shine a spotlight on some hidden gems. Album tracks, B-sides, soundtracks, these are the songs officially available but weren't released as singles. There's over 200 songs to rate so I've separated into four categories to make this less daunting: PWL era, DeCon era, 00s and 10s (the Parlophone era is too big to have in one section and having the 80s as its own section would be disproportionately small). We start with the PWL era. Give them all a rate between 0-10, allowing for an optional 11 and -1. I've made a Spotify playlist below so you can listen to any you're unfamiliar with. April 15, 20205 yr Just curious: Did or do you enjoy other PWL music or is it Kylie only? Me, it was also Jason Donovan, of course. I'm still loving Donna Summer's PWL album and Lonnie Gordon's "Happening All Over Again". Big Fun and Sonia also bring back sweet childhood memories. "I Just Don't Have The Heart" is the only Cliff Richard song I ever played a lot, so I really enjoyed Stock Aitken Waterman productions from their Kylie era, still wondering why they vanished so fast in the early 90's.
April 15, 20205 yr I loved so many pwl stuff, I was a big Jason Donovan fan, really loved his 2nd album between the lines, Sonias debut was great and was so happy to see it re released a few years ago with the bonus tracks, everybody knows is a real pop gem of an album. Another gem from this time was the London boys 12 commandments of dance album which again was great to see re released.So many big hits from pwl back then and kylie was the only one to sustain a career the whole way through to now. Big fun I liked handful of promises and pat and mick I havnt stopped dancing yet, I never ever managed to get their album when released and still havnt yet. Rick astley also had some great songs and he has done well again in the last few years.
April 15, 20205 yr Another gem from this time was the London boys 12 commandments of dance album which again was great to see re released. I'm still listening to that album, not just the singles, but I really love "London Nights" and "Harlem Desire". Whenever I listen to "Requiem" it makes me sad. I just checked: London Boys are dead for 24 years now. Feels like yesterday I was shocked about their death.
April 15, 20205 yr It was so tragic what happened the London boys and great to see another fan, i listen to their album alot, never understood why my love flopped in the uk as it's great, it went top 20 here in ireland. April 15, 20205 yr I read that many tracks on Boy Krazy's album were originally written for Kylie's fifth PWL album if it had happened. I enjoyed all Boy Krazy singles and some album tracks like "Different Class", but I can't image any of these songs being good enough for Kylie. I don't see any single (or even album) material there.
