It was in April 9, 2000 that for the first time (excluding the very first one) the top 6 of the UK singles chart consisted all of new entries, something that would only happen again a couple of times.

After singing on the Artful Dodger's massive hit Re-Rewind The Crowd Say Bo Select, Craig David entered #1 with his first solo single Fill Me In. It would become 10th best-selling single of the year.

At #2 the garage classic "Flowers" by Sweet Female Attitude, who ended up as the 36th best-selling single of 2000. A version by Nathan Dawe is currently in the top 40.

The Verve's frontman Richard Ashcroft solo debut single "A Song For The Lovers" was in at #3

Steps's Deeper Shade Of Blue entered at #4. Originally recorded by Tina Cousins, the track would quickly become a fan-favourite.

Bloodhound's Gang "The Bad Touch", already a huge hit in Continental Europe, entered at #5, eventually peaking at #4 and becoming the 20th best-selling single of the year.

And Dutch techno act Lock N Load was in at #6.

Five out of the six were great! Apart from the number 1 'Fill Me In' which wasn't that brilliant, the rest are quite excellent. I would love to give the sales from that week but Alan Jones' chart commentary in Music Week at the time didn't mention any sales at all. That wasn't unsual back then. He does reference the top 5 on 31 October, 1998 all being new entries, which at the time was a first.
love the top 3, with #3 being the best

My favourite is The Bloodhound Gang. 'The Bad Touch' is a great song.

6 fantastic tracks. R&B, Garage, Pop, Indie and Dance. The charts had great variety back in those days. This was the week Westlife's 'Fool Again' fell from Number 1 to Number 8.

The rest of the Top 10 in this week was:-

7. Melanie C feat. Lisa Left-Eye-Lopez - Never Be The Same Again (2)

8. Westlife - Fool Again (1)

9. Destiny's Child - Say My Name (3)

10. Rank 1 - Airwave (New Entry)

So that was 7 New Entries in the Top 10 that week :o

Other New Entries in the Top 40 were:-

13. Basement Jax - Bingo Bango

22. Angie Stone - Life Story

23. Daniel O' Donnell - Light A Candle

24. Lonestar - Amazed

33. Cherie Amore - I Don't Want Nobody

39. Wamdue Project - You're The Reason

What are the other weeks where the top 6 have been new entries?

Fill Me In is a great no 1 but my fav is The Bad Touch here. Never Be The Same Again has aged like fine wine

The Bad Touch, A Song For Lovers, Never Be The Same Again, Say My Name... love all those  and pretty awesome Top 10 all round. Would love to see variety like that back in the charts some day.
It’s such a strong top 6 as well. So nostalgic!
What are the other weeks where the top 6 have been new entries?

There has only been one other week - 23 January 2005, there were also 7 new entries in the Top 10 that week in total - there has never been a week with 8 or more new entries in the Top 10 (apart from the very first chart of course). Most recent occasion was the Ed Sheeran pandemic: https://www.officialcharts.com/charts/singl.../20170310/7501/ in March 2017.

First time there were...

I love all 6 of those. 'Flowers in particular is an all-time fave, which is why I'm not very happy about that bast*rdisation of it currently residing in the top 40.

I love how 'The Bad Touch' still gets referenced so much in popular culture. Iconic. Also, 'Bingo Bango' is my favourite from Basement Jaxx.

I really miss those times!

Flowers really should’ve been number one now that is a real 00s classic. good new entries all around in that top area, but articulately Airwave and Bingo Bango - should’ve been those two in the top 6, better than blow ya mind if we’re comparing dance tracks though that is a banger too.

plus deeper shade of blue is one of steps best

That is an amazing top 10

Tina Cousins sang Deeper Shade Of Blue 😮

Flowers should not have been released this week !!

I remember westlife the previous week were so lucky to over take Melanie C to go to number 1 with fool again. The power of CDUK back in the day !!

How did "Flowers" sales that week compare with "Fool Again" from the week before (when that was no.1)?

That is an excellent top 10. That was a great era for chart music.

I was thinking the same, knowing how "tactic" Westlife were with their releases, wonder if Flowers would have been #1 if released the previous week?

how much did Fool Again at #1?

EDIT: found it, 82K... so would have been pretty close if Flowers did 80K

What a week that would’ve been!

We’re lucky these days to get 6 new entries in the top 75.

I miss the days of pre orders in singles charts and having weeks where we’d get a battle for number one in the form of new entries etc.
