Posted April 10, 20205 yr Rachel vs Tina This is interesting "A feud between Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett was the real reason behind the S CLUB split. Despite suggestions the group split amicably, it is now claimed a bitchy battle between the two girl singers was the real reason behind the fall out. While stunning Rachel nicknamed Tina THE PLANK because she thought she was stupid, Tina was insanely jealous of the way Rachel had become the star of the show. An insider tells British tabloid the NEWS OF THE WORLD, "Tina and Rachel hit the end of the road ages ago. There was a lot of animosity between them. And Tina's jealousy and moaning caused ructions in the band. In the end none of them liked her and she became an outcast. "As well as dubbing her The Plank because they reckoned she was a bit slow they also called her SPACE CADET - because they thought she was on another planet. "Tina got fed up with Rachel being the perfect pop princess - what with her stunning looks and the celebrity boyfriend, (British TV actor) JEREMY EDWARDS." The insider from the S Club camp has also let slip that the boys in the band - Jon Lee and BRADLEY MACINTOSH - regularly used cannabis, even after being cautioned by police for possessing the drug. The source continues, "The boys never forgave Tina for demanding they be sacked when they were caught smoking cannabis two years ago. After that everyone was ordered to tell if the boys took drugs again. Bradley was the worst. He'd light up in the back of a car on the way to appointments. He just didn't care.""
April 10, 20205 yr  that reads like an EastEnders plot summary. Not sure how much of it is actually true lol? They definitely seem to be on good terms now and have been for many years so it can't have been too dramatic lol.
April 10, 20205 yr I can’t imagine Tina having any sway on anything. If she was that awful, they’d have just kicked her out.
April 10, 20205 yr The Plank! such a ridiculous nickname it almost has to be true  we need to get someone to ask Jo about the plank in an interview!
April 11, 20205 yr That is ICONIC and has to be true! It's too random not to be. The press were reet about how little money they made from the band, and so they must have had an inside scoop. Tina was always my least favourite ... until certain events after the band. Now she's my third favourite after Rachel and Hannet
April 11, 20205 yr My cousin is a huge Rachel fan and i used to always say to him she is a poor mans Kylie and he hated it
April 13, 20205 yr  That's such a dramatic story! I don't remember it from the time. I hope it wasn't true, and they all seemed to get along well with each other in 2014/15 anyway. The fact that they announced during a concert that that they were splitting up... imagine being in attendance to have a good night out, and then hearing that? I'm pretty sure that S Club Party was one of the earlier songs in the set list too. I wonder if the atmosphere of the crowd was bad for the rest of the show? sdwsuM_n7gQ I remember being so gutted when I saw this announcement aired on Newsround! These were the tour dates for the S Club United tour: APRIL 02, 2003 Glasgow SECC, Glasgow APRIL 03, 2003 Glasgow SECC, Glasgow APRIL 05, 2003 Newcastle Telewest Arena, Newcastle APRIL 06, 2003 Birmingham NEC, Birmingham APRIL 08, 2003 Sheffield Arena, Sheffield APRIL 09, 2003 Sheffield Arena, Sheffield APRIL 10, 2003 Nottingham Arena, Nottingham APRIL 12, 2003 MEN Arena, Manchester APRIL 13, 2003 MEN Arena, Manchester APRIL 15, 2003 Birmingham NEC, Birmingham APRIL 16, 2003 Birmingham NEC, Birmingham APRIL 17, 2003 Birmingham NEC, Birmingham APRIL 19, 2003 London Docklands Arena, London APRIL 20, 2003 London Docklands Arena, London APRIL 21, 2003 London Docklands Arena, London APRIL 23, 2003 Wembley Arena, London APRIL 24, 2003 Wembley Arena, London APRIL 25, 2003 Wembley Arena, London They announced that they were splitting on the 21st April date, which was evidently filmed, so I suppose that's why they chose to announce it then. Just seems a little insensitive to the audience, and maybe unnecessary to be that attention seeking with a split announcement. I know there was no social media back then, but I'm sure a press statement released after the tour was over would have sufficed. (Lol at me talking about this like it's a pressing and sensitive issue, 17 years later x) They actually did release a press statement as well: "With any job there comes a time to move on and to face new challenges. We've had a fantastic four years in S Club. We've experienced so much more than we ever imagined and we've enjoyed a huge amount of success. We can't thank each and every one of our fans enough for their constant support and we hope that they will continue to support and understand us in our decision." Wow at the number of dates by the way, 6 dates in London is impressive! 4 nights in Birmingham was great going too, not many acts play Birmingham that many times over.

Particularly impressive when you consider that their album only went gold and didn’t even manage too 10 for that tour! 😮
April 13, 20205 yr I think they got away with the underperformance of Seeing Double re: this tour, because tickets actually went on sale in June 2002! S Club Juniors were doing very well in 2002 and they were a part of the tour too, I guess that must have added some extra appeal for some ticket buyers!
April 13, 20205 yr I've never seen that video before!! I'd have been a wreck if I was in the crowd
