Posted April 16, 20205 yr Welcome all! Following on from 2018's Singles Rate, it's time to shine a spotlight on some hidden gems. Album tracks, B-sides, soundtracks, these are the songs officially available but weren't released as singles. There's over 200 songs to rate so I've separated into four categories to make this less daunting: PWL era, DeCon era, 00s and 10s (the Parlophone era is too big to have in one section and having the 80s as its own section would be disproportionately small). Part 2 is the DeCon era. Give them all a rate between 0-10, allowing for an optional 11 and -1. I've made a Spotify playlist below so you can listen to any you're unfamiliar with. April 19, 20205 yr Author Definitely! Kylie may have been experiencing low sales at this point but surely she was still enough of a draw to have this released as a single? Maybe Parlophone didn't want it to distract from Kylie's big comeback the following year? Not sure of the reason but hindsight would definitely prove it was worth releasing.
April 19, 20205 yr I still listen to ‘In Denial’ all the time - PSB were still scoring consistent Top 20 hits at the time and whilst I don’t think it would have been huge it definitely would have achieved a Top 20 placing.
April 19, 20205 yr The combined kylie and pet shop boys fanbase alone would have got this top 15 and I think possible low top 10. If it got any radio support I thi I a small about t of people would have taken to it aswell. PSB popularity was fading and kylie was prob at her lowest with popularity but it's such a great song.
April 19, 20205 yr Author I'd like to think the combined efforts of PSB and Kylie would have pushed this Top 10 considering they were both still achieving Top 15 hits.
April 20, 20205 yr Ya both were getting the top 15 hits at the time, both back then done the whole 2cd release so combined i think top 10 was very possible. I was very happy kylie performed it on showgirl and i hope she one day performs it again.
