October 7, 20222 yr 25th anniversary edition of THE VELVET ROPE is out today Janet Jackson will reissue The Velvet Rope on Friday, October 7, for the classic album’s 25th anniversary. The new edition comes with two rarities, “Accept Me” and “God’s Stepchild,” as well as 13 remixes, many of which are streaming for the first time. Several videos from the album will also be remastered for the release.
October 7, 20222 yr I'm not mad on any of the bonus material here. The Tony Humphries mix of Together Again is quite nice (although not a patch on the original obvs) but my main thought about it is how long must the original mix be if the edit version is still 10 mins!

Out of curiosity I tried to find out! Oddly the Tony Humphries Club Mix is shorter - 6m 43s :thinking: This 10 minute version was tagged as "12" Edit Mix" back in 1997 as well and there's no longer versions on any release. :thinking:
October 8, 20222 yr The Velvet Rope is a 10 When I was an angsty gay teenager, I thought it was the best album ever, but in hindsight, I think it's a slight step-down from the perfection of the run Control-Rhythm Nation-janet. Not that it's bad, mind you, just that it comes off as a bit self-indulgent at some points.

I need to continue my Janet J discography listen. I think I heard up to (and including) 'Control'... but 'Control' didn't hit me as much as I thought it would and I didn't go back for a while. I'll probably start from that album and give it another listen though. Excited for 'Rhythm Nation' and 'Velvet Rope' listen throughs though.

October 9, 20222 yr Make Me has been re-uploaded in 4K! nbZAyU1hz4k This is doing oddly well - currently 825,620 views since it was uploaded on 2nd October. Browsing though the comments, some people appear to be under the impression that it's a brand new Janet single :lol: Just to compare it to a couple of her other recent uploads - Doesn't Really Matter: 133,424 views since 1st October / Just a Little While: 105,993 views since 4th October. I wonder what is causing Make Me to receive far more attention? The algorithm working in its favour? The original SD version of Make Me which was uploaded on 23rd Nov 2009 has 2,028,756 total views. So in a little over a week the new HD version has achieved 40% of the views that the original upload has taken almost 13 years to achieve. I'm wondering if the original upload was/is blocked in certain countries, because 2m views in all that time is incredibly low! Runaway isn't on her official channel, but a fan page had a go at making it HD. Close up shots look great, but some of it is horrifying :kink:
