Ya I'd say the same, sometimes I vote for confide in me despite not really liking it but can often prefer it to other songs that might be part of the competition.

I have expressed as a Kylie song it is not her strongest.

From the songs Kylie is in competition with,Lost Without You would be in the top 5 of best songs on offer.

 

I feel like this isn’t the point of the competition though, if people are going to vote for an artist’s worst songs just because they want to see them through to the next round it does sort of remove the point of choosing the right songs for certain rounds.

This. It just takes the fun out of it if we're just seeing the big-name artists through round after round because people want to make sure they earn their loyal fan badge.

Not always. I can't speak for anybody else, but the current round definitely required listening to the playlist because I was unfamiliar with a lot of the songs sent, and as a result it's meant some of my more preferred artists have missed out because other songs were better. It doesn't mean I don't want to see my favourite artists through to the next round any less.

 

Tbf I can imagine others are doing just the same. It's only clear here because pippa has openly expressed a dislike for the song, but there's not really any way to tell if everyone else is voting strictly on the merit of the songs themselves. It's also not out of the question that a song you're not a fan of by an artist you love could be rated higher than a song by an artist you don't really care for.

Fan loyalty voting is happening with most whether people admit it or not.

I get your point too, it would be great if these things could be strictly on song quality but there's no way of making absolutely sure. It's like how one may tactically vote in a least favourite survivor or give a song a -1 even if you don't actually view it as harshly as that. I also think that when there's 50, 60, 70 voters, a couple of members blindly supporting their favourite artist doesn't make that much difference to the final score.

I find it incredibly hard to believe that fans of artists in other forums are not voting for their own artist.

There is no way of knowing but, I would again reiterate, Lost Without You is definitely one of the stronger songs on offer in this round we are currently voting in.

That may be down to familiarity as some of the others songs are new songs to me and many songs require multiple listens before becoming a fan of the song.

Been familiar with a song makes it easier in rounds like this.Some songs are not instant so some good songs will lose out in a round like this.

That is natural which is the risk with this round.

Not everyone will listen to all new songs at least 10 times before casting their votes.

There have been songs in the past that have taken months to grow on me.

I don’t understand why we would ever believe that fans who contribute mostly to their favourites AF forums on here would not vote for them? A quick scroll through the AF forums show multiple others doing the same.

 

‘Lost Without You’ is not my favourite Kylie song or even close but I streamed the songs from the playlist that I didn’t already know and it would still be in my Top 11 songs that I have voted for in this round due to some of the songs sent through being not something that I would ever listen to again or want to.

 

AF Idol is always going to be a challenge - last year Little Mix we’re accused of setting up multiple accounts to vote for them and now people are questioning others blindly voting for their favourites which as I said earlier most AF forums are doing, but with such a wide choice of songs and some questionable songs in this round LWY was and is a Top 11 for me.

Also I think it’s really unfair to single people out and flame them in the voting by posting things like ‘Not bad for a song you hate’?! As I said for me personally LWY is not a favourite but stands up against some of what’s been sent through so in this instance it’s easily a Top 11 song out of the choices available - had other songs been sent then maybe it would have been a different outcome.

 

Is that how we play the game from now on?! Search all the AF forums and if anyone posts anything remotely negative about the song we call them out on it in the voting thread?! :rolleyes: :huh:

That’s all fair enough as far as I’m concerned at least, I was just concerned that people here were initially saying they would vote for songs they dislike because of ‘loyalty’. If people are voting for the song because they genuinely do prefer it to all the songs they aren’t voting for after listening to them then I don’t think that’s a problem at all.

I listened to all the songs and some were new positive discoveries and others on first listen I never want to hear again.

It is a totally unfair comment posted in the thread and thank you for pointing it out.

The criteria requests 11 songs have to be selected when voting, some of the songs on offer I don't like but picked what was most appealing to me after a few listens.

Lost Without You, as I expressed in other threads, is not Kylie's best song on Golden or even close.

When the criteria states 11 songs, the result remains I voted for songs I would in other circumstances never vote for.

To be fair, they weren't simply accused last time, it was proven that it happened :P

 

On the matter of "blindly voting for favourite artists" I do get that to some degree, a song you don't consider to be your favourite from an artist could still end up being a favourite in the round when it's mixed up with other artists.

 

It would be great if everyone would listen to the songs and rank them with no regard to the artists themselves but I think that's an impossible task as there will always be bias :( this way there is less bias though because you're forced to vote for other artists whereas when we had polls, you could've just voted for your favourite artist and noone else!

 

I think the biggest mess to come from this is: there are people out there that don't consider 'Lost Without You' to be a Kylie great! :kink:

This type of game will only work if the chart forum users post and vote. However when you have rounds where the casuals users on this site won’t know the songs , I assume the number of votes will be lower.

Let’s be honest if we put “I was gonna cancel” though I would be questioning our tastes 😂 and I certainly wouldn’t support Kylie out of loyalty for that choice.
