1st :winner: : The Saturdays - Up (19/36 Votes to win) [52.78%]

2nd release to be taken from The Saturdays debut album Chasing Lights, 'Up' wins by 2 more votes over The Prodigy. It peaked at 5 and continued the girls wave of momentum which ultimately lasted until 2013 before they took a hiatus and haven't released anything since. Two members of the group Rochelle and Frankie were part of S Club Juniors who had a little phase of success themselves. It is quite the forum fave for many pop fans so it's not unsurprising to see it win out but boy what a contrast of groups / genres here lol. Ina Wroldsen who many will know from being on Calvin's huge dance hit from 2015 among many other music links over the years wrote all of The Saturdays first era singles except for JCGE (well obviously) and 'Issues' and then also some of their next era too!

2nd : The Prodigy - Omen (17/36 Votes) [47.22%]

Overall 'Omen' was the 19th single to be released by British Electronic band The Prodigy who were massive in the mid 90's with the classics 'Firestarter', 'Breathe' and 'Voodoo People'. This one in particular became the bands highest charting single in 13 years peaking at 4 in Feb 2009. The video is extremely ravey and features a girl mysteriously playing a glockenspiel. In the opposite end of the spectrum The Prodigy was the alternatives of the forums favourite and it proved just that by giving the pop ladies a good battle on our hands. Finishing 2nd after being a prime target is nothing to sniff at and especially losing out to a big girl group track at that!

Will easily wins the No.72 Survivor edition with 'Leave Right Now'. The song topped the singles chart in December 2003. It came 5th in the Year End #5 Survivor as well.

2nd Oasis - Songbird (7 Votes to Win out of 29) [24.14%]

and runner up goes to Oasis with 'Songbird' which was the 4th single to be taken from their fifth studio album Heathen Chemistry. It peaked at number three and features Appleton in the video and for those who knew Liam and Nicole Appleton were married and Liam wrote this song as a tribute to her. Noel and Liam both went on record to state that 'Songbird' is a "perfect" song!

9th Rihanna - Russian Roulette (12/33 Votes) [36.36%]

10th Sugababes & Girls Aloud - Walk This Way (13/35 Votes) [37.14%]

I think that's definitely the clear winner, although 'Russian Roulette' really deserved a better result than that!

Completely agree there. So underrated in her discography!

She was really robbed, for me it was such a poor round overall and I can’t believe she was second last, seven places behind Songbird, what?? I’ve always adored the track, the production and vibe of the verses especially is immaculate.

1. Little Boots - Remedy (27/39 Votes) [69.23%]

A convincing win for Blackpool based singer Little Boots who won the BBC's sound of 2009 being tipped for big things and whilst she didn't really live up to the full potential that was bestowed on her she did score a big hit with 'Remedy' which peaked at 6 in August.. 7 places higher than where he debut single before it 'New In Town' charted. It was a stand out of the electro pop era of music that came out that time and that also shows here with it triumphing over one of the biggest rock bands ever.

2. Foo Fighters - The Pretender (12/39 Votes) [30.77%]

and coming up at runner up is Foo Fighters with their 2007 hit 'The Pretender' which peaked at 8 and is by far their longest runner. It's rumoured that the Sesame Street song 'One Of These Things (Is Not Like The Others)' might have subconsciously influenced Dave's writing of the track.

1st Eminem Ft Dido - Stan (26/43 Votes) [60.47%]

Eminem triumphs with his huge 2000 single 'Stan' which also features Dido who can be heard singing lyrics of her track 'Thank You' and to which propelled 'Thank You' and the album No Angel to mainstream success. 'Stan' topped the UK chart but surprisingly only peaked at 51 in the US. It also appeared in the No.6 survivor where then it finished 3rd place so it also improves on that by finishing atop here.

2nd Kylie Minogue - Slow (17/43 Votes) [39.53%]

and in 2nd is that lady once again Kylie Minogue with her 7th UK #1 single 'Slow' and to this day remains her last number one. The video features a lot of sunbathing and Kylie surrounding herself with loads of men. It was shot at the Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc in Barcelona. Kylie's been widely praised for her seductive vocals as well and especially did for this track. In 2012, Kylie goes on record to say that she thinks 'Slow' is her favourite song from her music career!

10. Will Smith Ft Tra-Knox - Black Suits Comin (Nod Ya Head) (12/35 Votes) [34.29%]

Just found this online:

In America, "Stan" was just a modest hit, with a surprisingly low chart position of #51, in part because most radio stations didn't want a five-and-a-half minute song about a guy who drives his pregnant wife off a bridge on the air.

I guess US radio was more closed off back then, shame it wouldn’t even play the censored version much.
