Dido with her 2003 single 'White Flag'! The song was released in September 2003 and entered the chart at #2 behind Black Eyed Peas' 'Where Is The Love' - staying behind the band in the runner-up position for a second week. It is Dido's biggest hit as a lead artist and still sounds fresh even to this day. Definitely Dido at her best in my opinion.

In second place is the Coyote Ugly soundtrack 'Can't Fight the Moonlight' by American Country singer LeAnn Rimes. It was released in November 2000 and entered the chart at #1 - denying Daft Punk a number one in the process with their hit 'One More Time'. Although it is LeAnn's only top 5 hit in the UK (as a lead artist), it "only" peaked at #11 in the US - paling in comparison to her US #2 hit 'How Do I Live'.

The Number 13 survivor will be up soon. :kink:

WINNER: Dido - White Flag [70.00%] 21 out of 30 votes

Runner-up: LeAnn Rimes - Can't Fight The Moonlight [30.00%] 9 out of 30 votes

03. Nickelback - How You Remind Me [48.72%] 19 out of 39 votes

04. Beyoncé & Shakira - Beautiful Liar [41.03%] 16 out of 39 votes

05. Orson - No Tomorrow [44.74%] 17 out of 38 votes

06. Gorillaz - Clint Eastwood [30.77%] 12 out of 39 votes

07. Dizzee Rascal feat. Calvin Harris - Dance Wiv Me [39.39%] 13 out of 33 votes

08. Nizlopi - JCB Song [39.47%] 15 out of 38 votes

09. David Guetta feat. Akon - Sexy Chick [37.84%] 14 out of 37 votes

10. 3 Of A Kind - Baby Cakes [38.64%] 17 out of 44 votes

I'm just impressed with how well Nickelback did, making the top 3 and beating Beyonce and Shakira :cheeseblock:

YES! Love that Dido has won something on here finally! I kept as quiet as I could about how much I wanted it to win because usually when I do that the song gets voted out immediately

Such an amazing song.

No complaints at that winner, a truly brilliant nostalgic pop song.

Really like Can't Fight The Moonlight as well but didn't know that was the song which kept off One More Time from #1 so a few marks deducted for that :arrr:

The End-of-Year Number 13 Survivor Result

And the winner is...

Leona Lewis! The British songstress covered Snow Patrol's 2004 #5 hit 'Run' in the Spring of 2007 as part of her Radio 1 Live Lounge performance. The performance became the most requested Live Lounge cover and public demand eventually led Leona to record a studio version for the deluxe edition of her album Spirit in autumn 2008. The song was originally planned to be kept as an album track in order to push sales for the album but Leona's X Factor performance led to demand for a single release. It was released on download only in December 2008 and entered the chart at #1 - staying at the summit for 2 weeks - and becoming Leona's third - and final to date - number one.

In second place is the second single from Kings Of Leon's fourth album Only By The Night. The song followed in the footsteps of the band's previous single 'Sex On Fire' by racing up the charts and eventually settled for a peak of #2. Despite being the song that represents 2009 in this Survivor, 'Use Somebody' actually reached its peak at the tail end of 2008 and it was none other than Leona Lewis' 'Run' that kept it off the top spot. 12 years later and history repeats itself. :kink:

WINNER: Leona Lewis - Run [54.29%] 19 out of 35 votes

Runner-up: Kings Of Leon - Use Somebody [45.71%] 16 out of 35 votes

03. LMC vs U2 - Take Me To The Clouds Above [41.03%] 16 out of 39 votes

Snow Patrol with their slow-burning 2006 hit 'Chasing Cars'! The song was released in July 2006 and took eight weeks to climb to its peak of #6. The change in chart rules at the start of 2007, where songs are able to chart on downloads alone, saw 'Chasing Cars' re-enter the chart at #9 and becoming one of the songs to benefit most from digital music consumption. The song was the most widely played track of the 21st Century on UK radio! An eternal hit! I don't love the song but I can appreciate it - plus it's nice to see an indie song win a Survivor. It is also the first song released in 2006 to win a Survivor. :o I will be hosting another Ultimate Survivor series after the completion of the Number 20s. :cheer:

Missing out by a single vote after a while of dead heat is Lily Allen's 'The Fear' which served as the first single from her second album It's Not Me, It's You. The song was released in January 2009 and dethroned Lady Gaga's 'Just Dance' from the top - spending four weeks at number one before being replaced by Kelly Clarkson's 'My Life Would Suck Without You'. The start of 2009 was a great time to be a pop girl. 'The Fear' in turn gave Lily her second chart topper.

WINNER: Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars [51.35%] 19 out of 37 votes

Runner-up: Lily Allen - The Fear [48.65%] 18 out of 37 votes

03. Kelis - Milkshake [52.78%] 19 out of 36 votes
04. Eminem - The Real Slim Shady [57.89%] 22 out of 38 votes
05. Pink - So What [42.42%] 14 out of 33 votes
06. Holly Valance - Kiss Kiss [41.03%] 16 out of 39 votes
07. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc. [30.77%] 12 out of 39 votes
08. Kevin Lyttle - Turn Me On [40.00%] 14 out of 35 votes
09. Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah [31.58%] 12 out of 38 votes
10. Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya & Pink - Lady Marmalade [37.50%] 15 out of 40 votes
Yeeees love that Leona Lewis and Snow Patrol won. Both amazing songs

I voted The Fear to win but Chasing Cars is still good too.

I'd been voting to get Run out since Gwen left in the other survivor however. -_- Snow Patrol did that song better.

Surprised but happy to see Snow Patrol won!

Run is possibly the worst winner thus far (Whole Again is close) dull, dreary and overrated cover.

I wouldn't say I hate it, but I never understand what people see in it. It's such a formulaic X Factor-cut and paste style cover, there's a much better original right there.

Although at least there's some kinda justice for them in the other poll, shocked Chasing Cars won that! :o

Snow Patrol can still declare back-to-back wins based on songwriting credits *.* :kink: (I like Leona's version too though)

I'm actually surprised Kelis didn't win or even make the top 2. On the #13 Survivor, I'm very impressed with how many rounds 2Pac and 50 Cent lasted - deserved! Interesting coincidence for 2Pac and B.I.G. to get the same EOY position in back-to-back years.

Another pretty meh winner. I don't dislike Chasing Cars but it's so done to death. I'm just glad I wasn't as avid a chart follower at the time else it would have put me off it for life.

I would have been far happier had Run by Snow Patrol won one of these, not an inferior SP song & a Run cover

The End-of-Year Number 15 Survivor Result

And the winner is...

Britney! The pop princess finally wins a Survivor in this series after her memorable defeat in the Toxic vs Teenage Dirtbag final of the Number 9 Survivor. 'Oops!...' served as the lead single from Britney's second album of the same name and gave Britney her third UK chart topper. It entered the UK chart at #1 in May 2000 and spent 11 weeks in the top 40. Rather shockingly, it "only" peaked at #9 in the US which is low for such an iconic pop classic. I've probably said this somewhere else before but the whole campaign for this song was iconic - and I know that's a word thrown around loosely these days but the red PVC, the Titanic reference, the memorable title... Britney deserves this win.

Missing out on the crown is Beyoncé's "proper" solo debut - 'Crazy In Love'. The song became Bey's first solo number one both in the UK and the US and has gone down in history as a noughties classic. It has been reworked for major movies including The Great Gatsby (sung by Emeli Sande) and Fifty Shades Of Grey and has sold A LOT over the last decade. I can't remember the exact figure but it was mentioned in a thread in the Chart Forum. :kink:

WINNER: Britney Spears - Oops!... I Did It Again [66.67%] 26 out of 39 votes

Runner-up: Beyoncé feat. Jay-Z - Crazy In Love [33.33%] 13 out of 39 votes

03. Destiny's Child - Lose My Breath [42.11%] 16 out of 38 votes

04. Cascada - Everytime We Touch [50.00%] 19 out of 38 votes

05. Scooter - The Logical Song [40.54%] 15 out of 37 votes

06. Dizzee Rascal feat. Armand Van Helden - Bonkers [36.59%] 15 out of 41 votes

07. Ne-Yo - Closer [29.27%] 12 out of 41 votes

08. Atomic Kitten - Eternal Flame [35.14%] 13 out of 37 votes

09. Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girls [41.46%] 17 out of 41 votes

10. Will Smith - Switch [31.43%] 11 out of 35 votes

OIDIA peaked only #9 in US just based on radio performance, it never got released as a single CD (her label kept doing that to push album sales).

The End-of-Year Number 16 Survivor Result

And the winner is...

Daniel Bedingfield! 'Gotta Get Thru This' served as Daniel's debut single in December 2001 and entered the chart at number one - in turn dethroning S Club 7's 'Have You Ever' and beating other new entries from the likes of PPK, Hear'Say and... Kate Winslet! Daniel went on to have three number one singles in total - 2002's 'If You're Not the One' and 2003's 'Never Gonna Leave Your Side'. I don't think I've ever heard the latter one. :o

Finishing in second is my personal favourite from this batch - 'Lady' by Modjo. Released in September 2000, 'Lady' debuted at the top of the chart in a week which saw a top 3 full of new entries - Sonique and Wyclef Jean respectively make up numbers 2 and 3. Modjo only scored one other top 40 hit - the following year's 'Chillin'' which sounds like a regression from 'Lady'. That track only made #12 in the UK.

WINNER: Daniel Bedingfield - Gotta Get Thru This [55.56%] 20 out of 36 votes

Runner-up: Modjo - Lady (Hear Me Tonight) [44.44%] 16 out of 36 votes
