May 10, 20205 yr As a body of work X is mixed, possibly too mixed, but it delivered in parts and disappointed in others. How long was the album worked on for? With X following Kylie's illness, it likely was at a slower pace than Kylie's normal work rate.
September 25, 20204 yr Author Nice little article here singing the praises of X: https://junkee.com/kylie-minogue-x-album/272381 I agree that you can notice the blueprints to what would dominate the music scene in 2008 and 2009. X - and Britney's Blackout - were quite ahead of the curve.
September 25, 20204 yr I agree and disagree in equal measures, as the akbum has great strong points it has weak ones too.
September 30, 20204 yr I’ve always loved 2 Hearts! I can see why some people aren’t keen on it but I’ve always really appreciated and liked it  it’s not exactly classic Kylie the way some tracks on this are and maybe it wasn’t a great lead single but I’m glad it was a single it’s actually her most under-appreciated single id say like by her fan base.
September 30, 20204 yr This has always been one of my favourite Kylie eras, even though the album itself didn't turn out 100% great - which it could've as the demos and b-sides from this era are AMAZING. My tracklist would've been something like: 1. Speakerphone 2. Like a Drug 3. In My Arms 4. Lose Control 5. The One 6. Sensitized 7. Rippin' Up The Disco 8. Wow 9. Magnetic Electric 10. Spell of Desire 11. Nu-Di-Ty 12. Taprobane (Extraordinary Day) Deluxe Edition Bonus Tracks: 13. Do It Again 14. Carried Away 15. Cherry Bomb I would've led the album with Lose Control - the dark electro sound suits her so well and it would've been a proper moment for her to comeback with it, In My Arms and Like a Drug would follow as 2nd and 3rd singles with Wow + Speakerphone released as the 4th Double-A Single. The One can still be released in it's remix form as the 5th (promo) single as it's fantastic. I can't wait for them to release the vinyl though, i'm sure it will be beautiful!

Although 'Fall For You' should also have a place on it.

Sexual Gold 08. Rippin' Up The Disco 09. Cherry Bomb 10. Wow 11. Lose Control 12. Stars 13. Do It Again 14. Nu-Di-Ty Deluxe Edition 15. Ruffle My Feathers 16. Fall For You 17. September 30, 20204 yr I think they missed a trick with some of the choices that made the album while better songs were left off, if they were on the album and the One as the lead single i really think X could have been so much bigger. I think due to the album not been handled as good as it could have been it lost ground, def one of her albums that had so much more potential.
September 30, 20204 yr The singles run should have been (from my revised edition of X in the post above): NOV '07:The One FEB '08:Wow MAR '08:Speakerphone* (USA Lead Single) MAY '08:In My Arms JULY '08:Like A Drug OCT '08:Cherry Bomb "Speakerphone" for the lead US single, followed by "The One", then maybe "Like A Drug" as the 3rd single there. Some single covers fan-made & officials http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C2wNcEtlzhQ/UqImYT1lHRI/AAAAAAAAJBU/xuYaNX6nWGw/s400/The%20One%20by%20Stephanie%205.jpghttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-OYZHNVm-dZU/UL-aZz5PxFI/AAAAAAAAD58/YbHofmgNNXQ/s400/The%20One%20by%20Indigocapri.jpg http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Kxn5J3SF8tw/UMY3hi8XkuI/AAAAAAAAEIQ/vcJt2sdFXc4/s400/Like%20a%20Drug.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-1Nx86pdNr1o/UK-NU5anelI/AAAAAAAAB2I/arjIRIBQ1dI/s400/Cherry%20bomb%20yziik.png Edited October 1, 20204 yr by Nina West
October 1, 20204 yr Apart from speakerphone i would agree with your single selection, im not a fan of speakerphone.
October 1, 20204 yr Speakerphone would not be a song I would select for single status for any country.
October 1, 20204 yr omg, that cover is simply divine! (I do like the original cover a lot as well). While I do like 2 Hearts a lot, it was SUCH a bad and random lead single choice, especially when she had The One or In My Arms to offer as well. I do appreciate the risk they tried to take with releasing it, and it's not like it bombed, but it's not a song to sell an album with, especially not an anticipated comeback (there was a lot of good will and respect towards Kylie after everything she went through) during the Christmas season.

My problem with '2 Hearts' is that it doesn't reflect the album AT ALL. By itself it's a fine Glam-Rock inspired Pop track but it doesn't really have a space in the album so it really boggles me it made it to the tracklist and then got selected as the lead single! 'Lose Control', also from the Kish Mauve sessions, would've been far better in the album and as a single IMO.
October 1, 20204 yr 2 Hearts as a lead single was a misrepresentation of X. The song was a one off sound housed on the album and did no favours for the X campaign. Good album track or a brilliant b side should have been its home.
November 21, 20204 yr Happy 13th to the iconic ‘X’ album :cheer: It opened with 82,370 sales in the UK and debuted at #4 :drama: It’s also home to my favourite Kylie song ‘The One’
November 22, 20204 yr I was so disappointed X missed the top 3, it's always the album that i feel could have been more.
November 22, 20204 yr What's the sales gap between X and each of the Top 3 position? 01 Leona Lewis 164,433 02 Shayne Ward 95,801 03 Westlife 83,692 04 Kylie Minogue 82,370 I miss weekly sales like that!
November 22, 20204 yr Ah! I hate it when Westlife bumped Kylie out of Top 3 by 1300 copies!! Shayne Ward and Leona Lewis are nowhere to be seen these days. Edited November 22, 20204 yr by Red Blooded Man
