May 22, 20205 yr Ariana ranked 8th for me and I didn't vote on name alone - a sizeable number of songs weren't for me (as you'd expect in a bad songs round) and this cover was decent :')

May 22, 20205 yr I think being a fan of the film (and the original song) helped with Ariana this round; I know I voted because I love the use of the song in the films it's in and so it has a personal connection with me. Also the fact that music is subjective and one person's "dud" is another person's "masterpiece" so I don't that it's fair to assume people are only voting on name alone when it may not necessarily be the case (and most certainly is not) ;o

May 22, 20205 yr I’m an Ariana mod and didn’t vote for her round 1 choice :lol: as Bal said, some people’s treasure is another person’s trash - the likes of ‘Pretty Girls’ and ‘Bitch I’m Madonna’ are horrendous to me but at the same time were probably another person’s favourites. This was hardly a resounding success for Ariana, she was probably bottom 3 by the end and ‘Hype’ is hardly that BuzzJack friendly with a rapper on vocals and a really noisy breakdown. Obviously can’t speak for everyone but it’s unfair to say that Ari is only through due to tactical votes Anyway, so glad that round is over :drama: :lol:
May 22, 20205 yr People were only voting Calvin due to name tbh, coz there is absolutely NO WAY anybody with fully functional working ears, would like that noise enough to vote for it against any of the other songs that featured. I'm genuinely surprised he got as high as 19 votes for that racket! :kink: --- Srs though. It's really unfair to say that Ari got through on name alone... had it been name alone she wouldn't have had her forum panicking about her performance in the contest. As for my personal take on the song, it's gorgeous. A really, really beautiful version of the song that was very much ideal for the modern retelling, live-action version of a HUGE Disney classic.

May 22, 20205 yr Um, lets not jokingly drag Calvin when none of us were making those ludicrous comments. We didn’t have much choice considering the other tracks that were allowed. Nuh Ready was and is shocking and Off the Record hasn’t exactly aged well either :shrug:
May 22, 20205 yr Btw I’m not saying the Calvin mods chose badly, this round was a nightmare for both of us and I think we both worked with what we had in the best way that we could :lol: shame someone had to get kicked out this way but I’m glad Calvin did get the chance to send some bangers along the way, ‘Slide’ was my favourite of its respective round :wub:
