So I shared an opinion on... a bunch of songs? I’m not the most articulate gal so perhaps my original phrasing was overly broad, especially since I’m only familiar their singles and I actually do like a few of their tracks. But equally, I shouldn’t be under any obligation to explain why I’m not a fan of their material. Replace my initial quote with say, Ed Sheeran, Anne Marie, or any of the other forum’s resident punching bags, and not a single soul would bat an eye lid. The notion that I, as a Little Mix fan, have to hold the Spice Girls in high regard because they’re both female and make pop music is absurd and honestly a bit... icky? I’m not even claiming that LM’s music is objectively better than SG’s — I’m well aware that a lot of their albums are patchy at best — but I have fonder memories associated with their tracks and just generally... prefer it?

To be honest Defaze you're the only one who is being confrontational in the whole thing, a lot of the other comments are in jest. Yes there is some truth in sharing some opinions like Jay's post but that was actually written very respectfully and in no way said anyone else should change their own opinion or 'gaslighted' anyone as you rather extremely proclaimed.

The initial wtf comment about the disregarding Spice Girls entirely while stanning Little Mix wasn't personally directed at you, it was more of a general expression of our view that we found it strange that someone could love Little Mix with their anthemic girl power esque style yet be dismissive of Spice Girls who pioneered that style. I don't there being anything so "WTF that is SO offensive you are not letting me have my opinion you are gaslighting me" about it.

I've already apologised if some of my in jest comments were taken out of proportion and I'll apologise again, however continuing to take it so seriously is down to you and anyone else doing so, nobody else. I'm no longer posting anything else about the whole thing see everybody in the next thread.

Omg... this!!

Kath, you have weirdly hit the nail on the head. Not just for the Spice Girls but for all girl groups. I think BuzzJack holds them high in regard. The Saturdays forum was the same. I get that lots of you are passionate but you need to remember that sometimes passion can be portrayed as arrogance and intimidation.

Now there is only one solution... Stream Michelle McManus - All This Time! :michelle:

This thread is so long I've nearly been able to listen to all the songs in this round whilst reading through :') We all like who we like and that's okay! (unless you a Zara stan)
Let's just all agree who the REAL Girl Group icons are and appreciate that instead

I had so much difficulty ranking these two for this reason! Ultimately I went with Madonna on top of the two. There's been a lot of talk about the influences on girl groups... let's not get into which female popstar influenced which :drama:

Imagine if we had Born This Way and Express Yourself in the same round

I suppose generally Lady Gaga and Madonna share fans so there's not too much beef between fan groups currently! I voted Alejandro based on the fact I've listened to it way more and actually lived through it's release and promotion of it as a single so I have more semantic memories attached. La Isla is still recognised as a classic and influential song though!

Just a little post making it official from us, this game was only ever made and intended to bring the AF's together and give a bit of fun for everyone to take part in. It never is meant to get as deep and personal as it has done. From now, any posts we consider to be potentially inflammatory, will be removed. It ends up in crossed wires and just going around in circles, with personal attacks at one another.

We're better as a forum, than this. But you know what they say... "Another day, another AF Idol drama".

So can we get back on track to the votes and discussing timeless girl groups like STOOSHE, Parade or AbLisa plz?

Many thanks! :D

You did not just come for ABLISA  I expected better from a MODERATOR!!!
