Not essential, but it fits nicely with the album and it's sound! I like this. But I prefer DHU in terms of bonus tracks!

I wonder why the audio to this and 'Don't Hang Up' isn't the In The Zone album cover, on her YT page?

Is that going to be a vinyl cover for the album?

I haven't heard the bonus tracks in a while so this is a welcome refresher! I totally agree with the 'Slave' comparison for 'The Answer' in some points of the verses :o

The Answer is sounding quite like 'I'm A Slave 4 U' to me :o
Yeah! Just a more chilled vibe and less.. "fierce"/raunchy

Don't Hang Up - it's such a relaxing listen, I find it really pleasant in that respect. Lyrically it's saucy, even though it sounds pretty

I think 'Don't Hang Up' is the only song that's a bit disappointing/filler, it's just kinda floating by and not leaving much impact on me.

"Don't Hang Up" is the Josh Schwartz and Brian Kierulf production that should have made the cut in the album instead of "Brave New Girl". I assume it didn't because it's similar to "Touch of My Hand" in terms of the theme about masturbation, but I woudn't mind having two in the album. :kink:

Don't hang up

It's just getting serious

Damn, you're making me delirious

Don't hang up

'Til I'm finished with you

I'm not alone (Don't hang up)

I am not alone, I can still feel you

Even when I'm lonely

And now I'm coming too (Don't hang up)

I am not alone, I can still feel you

Feel you when I'm lonely, and now I'm coming too

The chorus is perfect and the bridge too.

You're far way, we'll find a way

Ooh baby, now, let's make it right

Close your eyes (damn)

The Answer is good, but definitely worthy of "only" being a bonus track in my eyes.

And I have a similar opinion for Don't Hang Up! Nice vibe but not an essential.

The production on this is so good. I find this quite catchy and her voice on this is niiiice! My fave of the 2 bonus tracks (well just) but WHAT AN ALBUM

Wow! Listening to In The Zone is still an experience. I wish "Girls & Boys", the track which was produced by Linda Perry, made this available on all streaming and digital platforms.

Thank you Jonjo once again for hosting this and I can't wait for Blackout. It's going to be so hard.

Thank you to everyone who made it :cheer:

To those who couldn't make it, I hope you take some time out to listen to this and feedback your thoughts to us

WHAT AN ALBUM. It's easy to see why it's considered her best (or "one of")! Incredible.

Speaking of her best...

BLACKOUT

next Sunday

'Don't Hang Up' merely being a bonus track is criminal.

Thanks so much for this session once again! This was my favourite one yet. I have been collecting all of Britney's albums on coloured vinyl and 'In The Zone' is up next - so excited to own that in my record collection! Going to get looking for it next week after pay day

I have 'I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)' on my version of In the Zone because it was actually included on the Taiwan track list and the In the Zone DVD (on a bonus CD). I mildly prefer it to Outrageous and it's an enjoyable bop, nevertheless I don't think it's sorely missing from the standard track list.

'Girls and Boys' fits the soundscape of the album and comes across as being experimental for Britney. I actually think the chorus lets down the rest of the song. I'm not as familiar with this song compared to everything else, so it's an easy last on that basis.

...and now back to the 5 songs at the start of the track list that I missed due to being late to the sosh! Judging by AF Idol it seems like a bit of a misunderstood song to me, oops. One that appears to suffer from "a collaboration between them could have been something better". Maybe true, but I still think they delivered with this! That fast-talky part is a moment. It's simply a bop!

There's good song potential in '(I Got That) Boom Boom'... but what they came up with just wasn't it. I only particularly enjoy Britney on the verses. I don't think that leads to an good chorus, it could have popped off more. The Ying Yang twins are noisy! They completely drag the song down. :( It's a misfire.

Showdown strikes me as being a "subtle bop". I look at the title and think "yeah, that's not a highlight", but then when I listen to it I realise - I'm really enjoying this!

Breathe on Me is a force to be reckoned with! What an amazing song! It's a huge missed opportunity to be a single. So sexy, but I feel like it still sounded accessible for the public - it's not quite as overtly sensual as Touch of My Hand. Britney performed Breathe on Me on CD:UK *_*

Finally, Early Mornin'. Same as Showdown for me actually, I kind of forget that I like this as much as I do! Such a vibe. The "yawn followed by a giggle" in the first chorus is so cute

And there we go! Lol at me listening to it in this unconventional order, but despite that I still really enjoyed this session. I don't think In the Zone is completely flawless, but the highs of this album are immense, which I would consider as being songs 1-7 in my rank below. (By the way, I've slightly edited my order below - on reflection I would have Shadow above The Hook Up). Songs 8-11 are all great too, very worthy of album inclusion.

I've Just Begun (Having My Fun) feels a bit detached from the vibe of the album, but I enjoy it and it is better than a handful of songs here - it does make me think more of the My Prerogative era though. Outrageous isn't all that bad, and I probably hold a bit of ill feeling towards it for being considered worthy as a single, and that it was a disaster in terms of leading to Britney injuring herself. Brave New Girl feels like it doesn't belong to this album, which may be why it suffers in my rank, but I like it. I think if I returned to it as a stand alone track without going to the rest of the album, I might potentially experience more enjoyment. (I Got That) Boom Boom frustrates me because it could and should be better than it is, as track 2 on the album. It just doesn't work for me. Girls and Boys also feels detached from In the Zone, for me, in the sense that I only heard it many years later... and whenever I do hear it I don't think all that much of it anyway... it's fine.
