I really thought Dancing In The Moonlight would be top 20 this week :(

THANK HEAVENS they finally skipped Flowers. But no doubt Dawe having a new track out will mean it avoids ACR for even longer...

Amazed this still isn't top 20, sounds like the sort of thing that would be dominating on Spotify on a billion summer playlists etc.

Biography

Topic started his career as a producer of numerous artists and then released "Light It Up", which kicked things off at the latter end of 2014. The track charted almost instantly. His debut album "Miles" entered the German as well as the Austrian charts. His sophomore single "Home (feat. Nico Santos)" easily claimed platinum status in Germany and double platinum in Australia. Followed up by "Find You (feat. Jake Reese) which featured Dutch-artist Jake Reese, "Break My Habits and "Perfect" - the collaboration with Ally Brooke, globally recognized as an essential part of the multi award-winning pop act Fifth Harmony. Topic & Nico Santos brought the successful union back to life in 2020 with the single "Like I Love You". With his current single "Breaking Me" ft. A7S he sets completely new standards in the genre, which he describes as "melancholic dance music". The song quickly reached gold status in Germany and has become a global hit by reaching the Global Top 50 with numerous national and international chart entries. - Spotify

Biography

Growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Jarad Higgins would freestyle rap through his school hallways. As a teenager, he began recording as Juice WRLD (a nod to the 1992 film starring 2Pac) and set his eyes on stardom. “My biggest fear is not getting to the point I want to,” he told Apple Music in the documentary accompanying his 2018 Up Next campaign, “but that’s also my biggest strength.” His distinctive, genre-blending take on emo rap—Auto-Tuned vocals, hints of pop punk, and beats inspired by Chief Keef and Chicago drill—shines on the breakthrough singles “Lucid Dreams” and “All Girls Are the Same,” which plumbed grief and regret and heartbreak with alarming honesty. Just five months after his star-making debut project, Goodbye & Good Riddance, he released a full-length collaboration with Future that felt like a euphoric, decadent victory lap. His second full-length solo project, Death Race for Love, released in March 2019, continued to mine personal pain for maximum drama, while collaborations with BTS and Ellie Goulding exhibited his range. Juice WRLD passed away in Chicago in December 2019 at age 21. - iTunes

Biography

19-year-old StaySolidRocky has made one of 2020’s breakthrough hits with “Party Girl.” Soaring past 10 million combined streams and debuting in the Billboard Top 100 (#84), the self-funded video single is the result of the Richmond, Virginia-based rapper putting it all on the line for his dream. Newly signed to Columbia Records, Rocky blends emotion and melody with skillful rapping. Evidenced in six-figure-streaming singles “Toxic” and “Soft Aggression,” his style is dynamic and unpredictable. “I don’t use a standard flow or try to recreate whatever I did on my last song,” he notes. “I make things that will sound good to the ear, and I always take pride in my lyrics.” Having used a combination of talent, social media, and the belief in himself, StaySolidRocky already sees the outcome of his art—and the party has just begun. - Spotify

Biography

Australian singer/songwriter Sam Fischer writes honest, thought-provoking lyrics that are easy to relate to, with the intention of providing comfort to the listener. The Los Angeles resident has written songs for Ciara, Clean Bandit, and Jennifer Hudson, and has been releasing solo material since 2016. After being featured on Black Saint's 2019 hit "Everybody Wants You," his earlier solo tune "This City" took off later in the year.

Fischer was born outside of Sydney, Australia and was writing songs by age 12. He grew up training classically on saxophone and violin and eventually ended up studying at the Berklee College of Music in the early 2010s. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles and began working in earnest on a solo music career while also taking part in L.A.'s a cappella scene and performing as a backup vocalist with the band HOLYCHILD. While working as much as possible in the music industry, Fischer readied his own songs and by 2016 had released his first single, the romantic, R&B-informed "Lean." He followed the next year with singles "Same Friends" and "Getting Older," as well as being featured on Opia's swaying single "Secrets." His debut EP, Not a Hobby, was first released in January of 2018. Fischer co-wrote Ciara's song "Dose" and was featured on tracks by Pat Lok and Nighttime Crowd, but "Everybody Wants You," his 2019 collaboration with London's Black Saint, became a dance hit during the summer. Sony then signed Fischer and re-released Not a Hobby, as the EP's track "This City" started to gain momentum online. - iTunes

It would far too much to ask for Scott to skip Flowers AND this. This even gets played every time on the First Look. Absolute garbage
Kings & Queens just got unlucky. It’s a huge hit.

It's a solid hit, Sweet But Pyscho was a huge hit I'd say :kink: Torn deserved to come for Candles In The Wind's record

Biography

Nobody makes feeling bad sound as good as The Weeknd. Even the singer’s sunniest tracks (“Can’t Feel My Face,” “Starboy”) feel anchored by darkness—the sense that pleasure is pain and beauty decays and you can’t have the night without the morning after. The brainchild of Toronto singer Abel Tesfaye, the project took off in 2011 with a string of mixtapes (later collected as 2012’s Trilogy) that forged cavernous, falsetto-driven R&B with narratives drenched in drugs, sex, and other regrettable decisions—a sound both sensuous and detached, featherlight and dead heavy. One of the earliest musicians to find his footing on the internet, Tesfaye originally offered his music through YouTube and free downloads, a move that felt radical then but is common now. Ethiopian by heritage (his parents immigrated to Canada in the late ’80s, just before he was born), Tesfaye—out from behind the mask of making art online—has since come to represent the changing face of Toronto, rooting himself not just in an international musical community but in a specific diasporic experience. Like the work of collaborator Lana Del Rey or early booster (and fellow Toronto native) Drake, Tesfaye’s music has become a symbol of hedonism pushed to bleak excess, with a series of albums—including 2015’s Grammy-winning Beauty Behind the Madness, 2016’s multiplatinum Starboy, and 2020’s dense and atmospheric After Hours—whose narrators can’t seem to say no even if they hate themselves for it later. And though his music has gotten a little brighter over time, the prevailing mood remains heavy, even unsettling—the ride you want more of even when you’ve had too much. Speaking to Apple Music about the persona behind his songs, Tesfaye said, “I’m a chill person. That guy is who I am, but it is who I am to myself and in my writing. Sometimes you take him and then you create more, and then it becomes this beast. You add more to him, and then it’s uncontrollable—its own character. It’s like Scarface, the villain: It’s horrible, but you can’t stop looking at it.” - iTunes
