Or I'm just stating an opinion that you don't like. Taylor Swift by her own standards has had 2 under performing eras and instead of getting her clothes off has created a critically acclaimed album that is a different genre and doing very well. Fair play to her she could have gone the easy route and took her clothes off and tried to be more shocking and hope the attention she got would do the hard work of crafting a good album.

That is really embarrasing to read. Taylor is in no way comparible to Megan and Cardi. Women are and should be allowed to express themselves in any which way they want to, if that includes taking off clothes and expressing their bodies then good for them! The song is about being passionate about sex and it's refreshing to me to see women speak of their bodies and not through a males eyes.

I highly doubt you'd even blink an eye if Jason made a similar song (oh wait he has) bit because they are female you have to tear them down. It's actually really embarrasing seeing these dated views.

You sound like a cock.

Sounds better than a lot of you who are dragging women for speaking openly about sex.

Really embarrasing, open up your beliefs and ideas of what's right and wrong, it might do you lot some good.

It's called an opinion, I feel strongly that Cardi should come up with some different content.

For me, as a Cardi fan her old stuff was better.

I never once dragged anyone for openly speaking about sex it's just boring listening to a whole song about how wet she is..

Personally I prefer more substance...

I'm not the biggest fan of WAP as a song, but the content is fine? Some of these outdated views are a mess.

Substance is subjective. It's great for young women to hear explicit and sexual lyrics with agency from women instead of men — it doesn't happen often.

WAP was also an anti-sex work movement — something Cardi has been very vocal against. I doubt that is a coincidence.

Also... flagging career? Since WHEN? This is Cardi's first release as a lead in over a year. Her last single to get a major push was hit single Please Me. She has no need to be desperate because she's one of the biggest names in the world...

^ It's too late for Banners to do anything now I feel, especially as they've already been booted to ACR [3 year rule + 3 weeks of decline means they only lasted 3 weeks in the chart].

Totally missed that Bob Marley remix entering yesterday as I just skimmed over his name thinking it was one of his old songs entering. Not much of a fan of it anyway.

Ah well, I've been introduced to Banners so that's a plus

Good to see Borns with a big climb after falling a bit yesterday. (I wish *both* of their stage names were a bit more creative!)

Didn't realise Bob Marley was Top 200. The Funkstar DeLuxe mix from 21 years ago was better, but good to see his name back anyway and it's been playlisted by Kiss, so could help it to climb!

I hope Paul Woolford can remain Top 40 this week!

Former Kluminican Republic BJSC entry in the top 100! :o After four/five years since its release? We love to see it.
Ladies and gentlemen, let's keep it friendly in here please! We can debate without resorting to namecalling. Consider this your only warning...!

The biggest crime in the entertainment industry in the last 15 years is that men in suits have convinced women (who need a career boost or to sell something) that being overtly sexual or taking their clothes off to do it is 'empowering'.

When you look at artists (as this is a music forum) the ones who are above having to answer to men or record executives are the ones that DON'T take their clothes off, that isn't a coincidence.

Melanie C has her own label and Spice Girls money and she isn't singing about her pussy or getting her tits out. Guess what she is her own boss.

Beyonce is evidently in control of her career and out put now and instead of getting naked she is doing politically and racially motivated music to try and make a change.

Adele doesn't have to answer to anyone she could never release music again and still be a legend. She is under no pressure to release or sell and her clothes stay on.

Heck even Rihanna, who was one of those with empowering herself getting naked stuff, now doesn't have a label or men in suits to please and she is a lot different. She isn't releasing an album a year or patting her pussy. She is now her own boss and you guessed it is much more demure now.

Why are you assuming that Cardi is answering to men? I don't think she's releasing this song for anyone's pleasure but her own?

But what's wrong with both? There's a place for all of this within the industry, just as there's a place in the industry for the likes of Jason Derulo, Trey Songz, Chris Brown etc who have lyrical content that is overtly sexual and videos where they're topless.

This idea of policing what women should and shouldn't wear is archaic and seems really dated to this idea that women shouldn't be sexualised. All of those people you mentioned are their own boss, and Cardi, Megan, Nicki etc are just as much their own boss by dictating how much skin they should wish to show. If you don't enjoy the content, then that is okay, but I definitely reject the idea that a woman showing skin is any less valid or empowering than men doing it.

I think there's real power in owning your own sexuality and owning your body. I'm not personally confident in my own body so I wouldn't be getting it out on Instagram but I don't look down on my peers who do topless modelling or run an OnlyFans etc, but I recognise that there's power in loving your body and being comfortable to flaunt it. I think the same goes for sex, I don't think people should be looked down on for talking about sex. Sexual liberation can be empowering to some and I recognise it's not for me to dictate that.

I'm surprised this is even an argument on this website, I didn't think many of us still lived by such sexist ideals that put a limit on what women wore and what it has to mean.

It's also worth noting that you've mentioned Rihanna being more 'demure' who has recently launched a lingerie line. So, clearly she's selling to women who want to feel sexy in their body still, because there's an empowering undertone in a woman feeling sexy, not because a man in a suit told her that would be a good business venture.

All it takes is a scroll down Rihanna's Instagram to see recent photos of her wearing very revealing outfits, I'm not really sure what Sammy is on about.

(and that's no bad thing in my eyes, good on her! I'd be showing my body off like that if I looked like Rihanna too )
