Are you sure about that? The original Savage Love hasn’t charted so I don’t think there’s a way to prove they’re not combined

It might have done on the downloads chart, I remember seeing it on iTunes before the version with Jason was released. No idea if it charted officially on the download chart tho

The original Levitating wasn’t a single or promoted in any way. The remix is obviously the one they’re focusing on so you would think the OCC would know enough to credit that version. Most of the remixes you’re talking about were remixes to songs that were already released as a single

I don’t think Levitating is actually a single? It’s not been picked up by radio or added to any big streaming playlists, I literally think it’s just to promote the remix album.

Dua’s team are smart enough to know a club remix featuring Madonna and Missy Elliot was not going to be a runaway success in 2020.

Levitating was added to big Apple Music playlists.

It hasn’t taken off with general public because they need to hear it on the radio. It was also trashed for not being as good as the original.

"Savage Love" wasn't a thing before Jason Derulo came along though that's the difference, it was a separate entity altogether. The "original" song was an instrumental by Jawst, it then became popular on TikTok to the point where Jason Derulo wanted to add his vocals to the instrumental to create a new song. I think if the original "Laxed (Siren Beat)" had sold enough sales to make the chart then it would chart separately, however due to "Savage Love" existing theres really no need for anyone to buy or stream the instrumental. Think of it as a sample rather than an original song that's been remixed

Not a fair comparison. Levitating wouldn’t be #33 or anywhere near the top 100 right now if it weren’t for Madonna and Missy Elliott

For what it's worth, the original has charted on its own in a few places both before and after Jason Derulo happened (has a respectable 32 million plays on Spotify), of which the UK is not one. It's probably combined by the OCC but not doing anywhere near enough traction to chart itself if it weren't

Levitating is like a whole new different song though.

In some ways I wish our chart was more like the US one where it comes to remixes on tracks the one what sells the most gets the credit. But regardless Dua is getting another top 75 hit to her name.

Not wholly unexpected but still disappointing to see Kiesza miss the Top 100 in the first set of mids :(

Indeed, even though I never for a second thought she'd make a dent in the charts.

What an album though - highly recommended if you're a fan of the Carly-esque, uplifting synth pop sounds

Levitating remix isn't a single either, so they're actually being fair to credit it only to Dua for now.

It charted on the Downloads chart before Savage Love came out if it makes a difference

Hopefully Harry Styles will be back in the top 10 again on Friday, i say him and lewis will make their back.Ella Henderson keeps getting stuck around the 50-55 region.
Quite poor start for Burna Boy but that's what you get when you let Chris Martin ruin your album :P

His last album charted at #16, I wouldn't call #8 in the first mids a 'poor start' personally...! (I expect it has a chance of climbing over the week as well considering it has much better streaming numbers than the other new entries just ahead of it)

“Fair” is subjective since the vast majority of units sold this week were the remix... and the remix has a music video so it’s not like it’s just some random track

That doesn't change the fact that neither version is an actual single right now, so we have an album track + a remix album track...

What makes you think it’s not a single? It’s listed on multiple websites as the lead single from Club Future Nostalgia

The difference with Jason Derulo is that they are on 2 different labels
