Wasn't Nicki Minaj the last female rapper to hit #1? (she wasnt featured either so she still counts as lead artist alongside Jessie J and Ariana)

Looks like a collab between Joel Corry and Jess Glynne is on it’s way...

Jess coming to extend her UK female with most #1s record!

To all intents and purposes, Bang Bang is pretty much a feature for Nicki so I excluded it, but otherwise yes, I believe Nicki's the last in any sort of capacity!

So intrigued at the albums chart figures tomorrow!

I still feel like The Killers might be a threat for the #1 again the way Gaga and Taylor managed a second week at #1 earlier in the year.

I think the strong competition from Metallica and Gregory Porter will put one of them at the top

If The Killers had their vinyl out, I could definitely have seen them spend a second week at #1 with Record Store Day just gone

The Magic Gang have said they're in the top 10 albums today

I'm assuming this is Sunday's update, there isn't usually an update compiled at all on bank holidays as far as I'm aware.

Guess it must be then, I wasn't sure if perhaps the labels are told or not

On the Albums Update chart the Top 5 is all new entries.

1 New S&M2 - METALLICA

2 New ALL RISE - GREGORY PORTER

3 New CRABS IN A BUCKET - NINES

4 New ENERGY - DISCLOSURE

5 New SMILE - KATY PERRY

When is the last time that occurred?

But it could all change by Friday.

Wonder if there is a chance Nines could actually get the #1 album - as the most streaming heavy album it should hold up better than the others over the week so it just depends how far ahead Metallica/Gregory are. Have to say Metallica are really doing shockingly well for an... orchestral live album? Even with their early success on iTunes I wasn't expecting them to be ahead of Gregory. I expect they'll be the most frontloaded of the 5 though.

I feel vindicated for predicting Disclosure might do better than Katy now even though #4 still feels pretty disappointingly low. xx

It's The Killers at #6 currently and I doubt they'll be doing more than about 10k this week, I'm sure the new entries should all pass that mark pretty easily so I think it'll remain an all new top 5.

Biffy Clyro's album actually holding up relatively nicely so far (for what it is), was impressed at it getting a second week in the top 10 and it's only down to #17 today!

Was hoping Kelly Lee Owens would be able to manage a top 100 album but she's only #64 today so probably a pretty slim chance of that.

oh thanks for the update, kinda matches the iTunes chart, will be interesting to see the figures

crazy how well Metallica are doing when S&M part 1 only peaked at #33

I definitely underestimated Metallica!

They should have collaborated with Rihanna on a song after she had a song of the same name!

Looking forward to seeing where Dj 4rain is this week
Definitely didn't consider Metallica being number one contenders. Interesting chart this week!

3K separate the entire top 5 per the OCC FB page, Metallica are 2K ahead of Porter

PVRIS are #10 and Magic Gang #11

Oh dear Katy Perry.
Oh wow, that gap is really nothing then - Nines is coming for the #1 for sure in that case I'd say. (Although I'm not really sure how well Gregory Porter is going to hold up so maybe he still has a shot too, and Katy could always pull a Selena/5SOS if she has website orders that haven't shipped yet). Exciting ~
