September 25, 20204 yr Author I know that's not a hawk but it looks cool beabadoobee - Care 37 - artist DNQed in BJSC 118 3 - artist had a UK #4 hit as featured artist on Powfu's 'death bed (coffee for your head)' earlier this year - appeared in 9 personal charts, 4 of which are current BJSC participants (Bré, gooddelta, Klumzee, WhoOdyssey); spent several weeks in the Multichart recently, peaking at #34 12 - was very recently B-Listed on Radio 1 (left playlist a couple of weeks ago) 10 - forthcoming parent album has a thread with 10 replies in the Indie forum - covered on most notable indie-ish blogs (Pitchfork, NME, Stereogum etc.), would classify as substantial blog coverage 12 J.Y. Park and SUNMI - When We Disco 30 - J.Y. Park came 29th (as featured artist under the name JYP) in BJSC 88 3 - SUNMI DNQed in BJSCs 93, 99 & 101 and came 13th in BJSC 108 10+7 - charted at #5 in South Korea this year 10 - appeared in 1 personal chart (not a BJSC participant) - usual K-Pop blog coverage And this has since been changed, but in case anyone else tries it: Julie Bergan - One Touch 24 - artist came 30th in BJSC 80, 9th in BJSC 93 and 40th in BJSC 95 3+7 - currently #39 in Norway / low top 100 on Norwegian Spotify (peaked at #24) 7 - double confirmed 7 - covered on Scandipop, low level blog coverage otherwise
September 25, 20204 yr No joy in throwing out 'Care' as it is a great song but sadly it is quite a framework breaking one! SUNMI is still currently in the 'pretty much any new single of hers will be automatically vetoed' stage x
September 25, 20204 yr I'm curious. If a song is vetoed now due to blog coverage/BJ personal charts/hype/being in a country's chart, is it eligible to be nominated in a few months/a year or so?

Oops well 118 was a while ago, I checked the wiki and thought ah it's a different song and only a feature (that's the one that has no veto points see x), I barely pay attention to any form of charts these days (not even BJ ones soz :( ), I can't even remember the last time I listened to Radio 1 (or radio generally), haven't been on the forum much for a while aaaand I'm bad with keeping up with blogs. I just heard my friend play in literally 2 days ago and thought it was a massive tune. A real shame cause I was hyped for this one, though I was vaguely aware that she'd picked up some buzz, just thought I could get away with it. No idea what to replace it with, I'll have a look this evening.
September 25, 20204 yr I'm curious. If a song is vetoed now due to blog coverage/BJ personal charts/hype/being in a country's chart, is it eligible to be nominated in a few months/a year or so? It's kind of a loophole in the veto framework but yeah, years-old songs tend to be able to get away with more than more recently released songs do. Krystal Klear last month for example is a song that I think would almost certainly have been vetoed at the time it was originally released (and imo maaaaybe still should have been even now, I was very on the fence about it) but enough time passed that it ended up getting through. I guess the veto framework is kind of guarding against recently released songs that have the potential to become more widely known outside of the contest. Please note this is not me endorsing looking for entries like this xx It is always best to just send something that is no trouble rather than trying to test the framework xx REEEEEEE my first veto, 40 something contests in. Oops! I can sympathise, I had a veto-less record up until like my ~60th entry and was sad times when I eventually got one. x

September 25, 20204 yr Just think how much money you’d make off my entries if you were actually paid for doing it! *.*
September 25, 20204 yr Author Two more flouters found! (The Hawk Police regret eating too many doughnuts that these are coming out so late, oops x) Tei Shi - Die 4 Ur Love 15 - artist came 19th in BJSC 70 3 - almost impossible to search for on BuzzJack; had a thread with 0 replies in the Pop forum + appeared in at least 3 personal charts, 1 of which is a BJSC participant (Leww) - EP of the same name covered on Pitchfork, song covered on Consequence of Sound, Stereogum, The Line of Best Fit etc., would classify as substantial blog coverage 12 Madison Beer - Baby 15 - artist came 9th in BJSC 59, 23rd (as featured artist) in BJSC 73, 17th in BJSC 85 and DNQed in BJSC 98 3+7 - charted at #86 in the UK a few weeks ago; artist has 3 other UK chart hits in 2019-2020, 1 of which made the top 40 (#10 for 'All Day And Night' w/ Europa) 5 - appeared in 3 personal charts, 2 of which are BJSC participants (Calum, LewisGT) - mid level blog coverage
September 25, 20204 yr I agree with the rest but I think that Tei Shi veto is a little surprising/harsh! :o
September 25, 20204 yr There’s nothing wrong with a veto, it keeps Bre in a job.But what about his job of updating the YTD? :kink:
September 25, 20204 yr I wish I had something better to send this month... I’ve been totally ensnared by Robyn’s DOM5 and couldn’t think of anything else!
