My parents, who I’m now convinced have descended into madness due to lockdowns, tell me they won’t be rushing for a vaccine either. I’m currently explaining to them that I will do what I have to in order to return my life to normal because I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to live to work and not much else. My dad thinks he knows it all because he has a Genetics degree but I keep reminding him that it is 40 years old. My mum I think will cave as she swings from believing we’ve massively overestimated the virus to furiously scrubbing all of her groceries.

My parents are the same, honestly the last 10 years I’ve no idea what has happened to them. In 2010 both were active paying members of the Lib Dems and voted for Nick Clegg. Fast forward to 2020 and they are avid right-wing Brexiteers and conspiracy theorists who hate the left and idolise Donald Trump and Nigel Farage.

Yes I do know the facts and have read them but I am just saying that we know of two families with autistic daughters in their 20's now who think it was caused by MMR. I couldn't care less whether it was or wasn't but you can't dismiss what they believe.

Yeah actually I can because it’s f***ing nonsense that has no grounding in either science or fact. Antivaxxers are a cancer on the face of society

I think it's an insult to them to say they're "mad due to lockdowns"for being cautious about the vaccine. Ridiculous thing to say. Do we know that all politicians, scientists and celebrities will have it when their turn comes? No. I'm fine about people having it and conversely would like us not having it not to be ridiculed either. Hey we'll save the tax payer some money after all.

With all due respect (which equates to none whatsoever in this case) you don’t know my parents. You don’t know what they were like before all of this or what they are like now. So perhaps you should keep quiet about such things.

Bizarre. My parents aren’t quite there but my mum did vote for Brexit but vocally regrets doing so now. They’d never vote for the Tories but their opinions on the virus really do upset me. They weren’t always like this, they were very quick to self isolate when everything kicked off and I still think my Mum is concerned beneath it all. My dad always seemed very level headed so his reaction right now is a worry.

My parents were still going to the pub during the first lockdown (our horse field backs on to the beer garden of a pub so they sat in there and had pints when it was closed at the front lol)
You see, my parents follow the rules, they just keep complaining about them and thinking they know better. My dad is convinced there’s something wrong with the test.

Your friends' families are absolute morons. You can't dismiss what I believe.

Autism is not caused by MMR. There is absolutely no link. Guess what some kids get autism unfortunately? I was fully vaccinated in the 90s and guess what.. I don't have autism. Nor does anyone I know who was also vaccinated in the 90s.

I'm not an antivaxxer though as I have the flu jab every year as does wife's employer. If I was I wouldn't have that would I? We're just wary of this as it's been developed so quickly.

Does the flu jab not get developed each year so it’s pretty quick to be produced?

One lived opposite my mum and when they were taking the Health Dept. to court, their solicitor asked my mum to sign a form stating the little girl was fine as a toddler before she had the MMR. She asked me what to do as my dad had just died. I told her not to do it or get involved in any way so they fell out with us. They lost their case as I said they would.

I think they sometimes tweak it if flu mutates since last year.

I've never understood why autism and vaccines are linked at all, Autism is primarily a communications disability that is resulted from variations in the brain and how people process the world, it's not something that can just be put into you, I have a minor form of it myself and I find it rather offensive to even suggest something like that, I can't imagine how those lower functioning cases feel...

Andrew Wakefield has got a lot to answer for.

That said, so has Facebook. I expect that is partly responsible for radicalising people and growing the 'anti-vax' crowd. I am so with Sacha Baron Cohen when he tweeted one down, one to go with a picture of Donald Trump and Mark Zuckerberg. Every day I become more and more relieved that I never caved into peer pressure and created a Facebook account.

Yes we can if it’s stupid scaremongering nonsense based on zero facts.

Flat earthers also BELIEVE their shit. I BELIEVE that I’m a descendant of the royal family and have superpowers.

They always tweak it as the virus mutates every year, thats why flu waves are sometimes bigger (as the version is more contagious or less severe) and the flu jab is a yearly thing. It's not a completely new vaccine, but the covid vaccine will use the same techniques used in other vaccines as well

I believe Pizza Hut owes me a lifetime of pizzas. Dinner's on me x

So Sweden have done a complete U-turn on their policy.

Worrying for England too our infection rates have stabilised but they have not decreased. I'm not sure this lockdown is as effective as it needs to be, which just means the majority of the country will be under some form of lockdown until March 2021 you would imagine.

Plus they extended the furlough scheme till end of March right? Hopefully we don't have to wait that long for hospitality establishments to re-open, else that'll mean an even longer lockdown than the first one! And longer than the Melbourne 112-day stint or whatever it was.

Looks likely at the moment unless the numbers come down. Can't see another way out right now, not when some places have got worse rather than better. Think we will just see lots of Tier 3 Plus regions.

Happy 1st Birthday to Miss Rona!
