I was recently listening to 'The Way You Move' by Outkast and it reminded me that I've always preferred this song to the smash hit 'Hey Ya'.

More recently, I prefer The Weeknd's 'In Your Eyes' to the smash hit 'Blinding Lights'.

Oh, and going back to the 00s again, I've always liked McFly's 'Obviously' more than their debut '5 Colours In Her Hair'.

Are there any other 'second singles' which were flops/lesser hits than their predecessor which you always prefer to listen to? :D

Not sure if it counts as they were released at the same time but Castle on the Hill >>>> Shape of You
I always end up liking the less-popular singles more  Lost Frequencies - Reality is the biggest example. Other recent ones include Loud Luxury - Love No More and Surf Mesa - Somewhere.

Circus >> Womanizer

Poker Face >> Just Dance

Judas >> Born This Way

Moderately noteworthy fact: "The Way You Move" debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 a few weeks before "Hey Ya!" though the latter became a #1 hit sooner, which also happened with Rihanna's "What's My Name" and The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face".

Don't know if it counts given the info above, but I very much prefer "What's My Name" over "Only Girl". I preferred it back then and also after all these years I think it aged much better.

Touch > Shout out to my ex

Judas > born this way

Til the world ends > hold it against me

Up, ego, higher, all fired up > the saturdays lead singles

Gaga A Million Reasons

a million times better than Perfect Illusion

Starlight, Knights, Map Of The Problematique all >>> Supermassive Black Hole

Flux >> The Prayer

Physical >> Don't Start Now

Try by P!nk come to my mind first but I’d also agree on Poker Face, Million Reasons.

Into You by Ariana as well I preferred that to Dangerous Woman and I preferred Touch and DNA by Little Mix to the lead singles from their albums. There may be more but of the top of my head those come to mind first.

Wow and in my arms were both better than 2 hearts by kylie from her X album. I fully agree about Try from Pink aswell.

Never Ever > I Know Where It's At

Together Again > Gone til It's Gone

Someone Like You > Rolling In The Deep

Sorry > What Do You Mean

Mi Chico Latino > Look at Me

Take My Breathe Away > What Took You So Long

Stretching it further to even later singles;

Viva Forever > SUYL, Too Much, Stop

Demons > Radioactive, It's Time

Everytime > MATM, Toxic

I'm Not The Only One > MOMM, Stay With Me

How about third singles that are better than the first two

It's The Way You Make Me Feel > Stomp

In Your Eyes > Can't Get You Out of My Head
