A sale is still a sale!

I'm sure I read a couple of months ago that Sainsbury's were going to stop selling all physical media including vinyl, CDs, BluRay etc. However I've just done a Google search and can't find any online articles.

 

There was a thread about it on DS but I think it was more anecdotal about some local stores rather than any announcement about a national policy

Whilst both Kylies and Little Mix’s sales are both pretty decent, if they didn’t have each other as competition, there would be nowhere near as many additional cd bundles being released on what seems like an hourly basis. Both of their album sales would be significantly lower so I’d assume they’ve both benefitted greatly from this utterly toxic stan battle.

 

 

While some of this maybe true, BMG have had the whole of this campaign planned for three months in very big detail, from the timing of the remixes to add to her streaming, to having all the signed stuff to go, the formats all planned, the special editions with the distributors etc etc. And they did all of this with a lockdown in England.

 

They said they have done nothing different so yes with the exception maybe of a few extra signed stuff the releases of bundles etc and formats was pre planned.

 

They probsbly have a lot more to sell in and around her promotion spots.

 

It's been a brilliant campaign so far, not just in the UK, but worldwide . She is going to get some of her best chart positions in countries for years

Yeah Kylie’s team has done the best laid out plan for opening week I think I’ve ever seen. I’m sure it will be the template for future campaigns...and good luck to the album going up against her next time around.

But we still do not know who has won.....

 

I will be happy until I see the chart....

I think you're overestimating the number of Kylie fans that are buying multiple copies. If you look on the forums on here and SayHey and on Twitter its a handful of people in the UK. Even if there were 100 fans doing it then they would have to be buying 100 copies each which they are not. The 10K is from some fans but mainly the general public.

 

Let's not forget that even 50K of sales is not exactly high for a new major release for a big artist.

Oh yeah, the OCC should totally change the rules coz artists have found a way to successfully combat the declining physical sales... :rolleyes:

 

MORE artists should be doing multi formats. My main problem is that they don't try hard enough beyond the first week! Why not keep sales steady for more longevity? But that's just a personal preference.

 

2020 has been an interesting year for chart battles. We've not had anything like these for a long time (Dua vs 5SOS, Kylie vs Little Mix etc..) so it's been such a refreshing change of pace. Especially in the year that they SHOULD be pushing for sales on their official stores/online sites.

i dont see why the OCC should change the rules especially since its a genuine purchase.

artists have the right to cater to their fans demands and multi-formatting has been around since the 70s so i dont see why it would change now...it will help record sales which r at an all time low and it will help keep more jobs alive...

Great to see LM guaranteed top 3 with SM, I would have preferred LM get number 1 album but I love Kylie just as much and I’m pleased they lost to her and nobody else

Amazing album sales too, would have walked the number 1 this week had they prepared better.

 

Pink and Keith Urban doing really well to back at number 40 again in the mids, Good to see kylie stretch that lead further for the number 1 album, im hoping she should be around 53k when sales come out tomorrow. I hope little mix sweet melody can hold that number 3 or higher tomorrow.

Little Mix getting a top 3 hit was something i thought i would never see again :wub: So pleased for them! If their team pushes it higher on streaming etc it could challenge for #1 next week i think.
