December 22, 20204 yr Indeed. So masses of extra demand short term created by this utter fail of a government. Inadvertently or maybe not so helping their friends in the big corporations again!
December 22, 20204 yr Will be part of it, yes. Am dreading going to Asda tomorrow for more milk. Mind you on same day last year I got smoked salmon really cheap. All the big supermarkets say they have enough stocks right up to late Christmas Eve. Haha I remember the smoked salmon incident last year 😂 Why do you not just get milk from a local store?
December 22, 20204 yr Haha I remember the smoked salmon incident last year 😂 Why do you not just get milk from a local store? It doesn't seem to keep very long and is 2p dearer. :D
December 22, 20204 yr How does it not keep very long? The local shop near us has it at 20p dearer but you can get two for two quid which is decent.
December 22, 20204 yr How does it not keep very long? The local shop near us has it at 20p dearer but you can get two for two quid which is decent. If the date for Tesco milk says 29th it'll keep until then. If the newsagent's says 29th and I open it 24th it may be bad already. Don't think he stores them properly.
December 22, 20204 yr Sturgeon has announced that all Scottish schools will stay closed until 18th Jan. Will the other nations follow?
December 22, 20204 yr Sturgeon has announced that all Scottish schools will stay closed until 18th Jan. Will the other nations follow? She also hasnt promised that they’ll reopen then, she will review beforehand. Not sure other nations will follow but in England and Wales we’re having staggered returns starting from 11th. Wales are supposed to have all students back by the 18th but so much has happened since that was announced that I don’t know. I do hope they make some sort of decision soon. I’m fed up of last minute knee jerk reactions.
December 22, 20204 yr Yeh in NI they’re meant to go back as normal then work online from the 25/1/21, don’t ask me what the thinking behind that is.
December 22, 20204 yr 36,804 cases today and 691 deaths. I am guessing a national lockdown won't be far off for us now?
December 22, 20204 yr 36,804 cases today and 691 deaths. I am guessing a national lockdown won't be far off for us now? January I guess or the whole country in Tier 4.
December 22, 20204 yr Yep national lockdown #3 from boxing day one would imagine. This is the new norm folks.
December 22, 20204 yr Just lockdown the South :D Like I've said, I do wonder if more people are getting tested without symptoms etc. prior to Christmas. It's all pretty grim though. I'd only advocate a National Lockdown if there was a clear 4-6 week vaccination plan otherwise what is the point? You might as well just close hospitality but keeps gyms and shops open. I don't think a national lockdown does anyone any favours as everyone just goes mental once it's over.
December 22, 20204 yr Author Even if a strict nationwide lockdown was imposed tonight we would exceed the previous April peak... : (
December 22, 20204 yr Even if a strict nationwide lockdown was imposed tonight we would exceed the previous April peak... : ( So what good has the lockdown done? People just ignored it. And they will again. I'm not convinced this new variant is the full cause. Also reading about, we only found out about it by accident. The likelihood is it's also in the rest of Europe, they just don't have the same level of virology as the UK.
December 22, 20204 yr Reality is that the lockdown was simply too short to see the reduction in cases to lead to the background reduction of hospital admissions. This is the country that was in lockdown for almost 4 months the first time round, what was 4 weeks gonna do?
December 22, 20204 yr Reality is that the lockdown was simply too short to see the reduction in cases to lead to the background reduction of hospital admissions. This is the country that was in lockdown for almost 4 months the first time round, what was 4 weeks gonna do? Also I bet more people ignored it than the first one. I honestly don't know what the answer is. Despite the daily figures people are fed up and many will put seeing their families first this Christmas. Wife's employers are leaving Tier 4 to go to his parents in Tier 2 after a long time agonising over it. I don't blame them at all. Edited December 22, 20204 yr by CHRIS-TMAS
December 22, 20204 yr He basically knew all along he was gonna invent a Tier 4 and waited until Parliamentary recess to do this so there wouldn’t be a revolt, didn't he? Such a rat he is.
December 22, 20204 yr He basically knew all along he was gonna invent a Tier 4 and waited until Parliamentary recess to do this so there wouldn’t be a revolt, didn't he? I think so, yes. Should have been debated in Parliament. MP's have never given permission for a Tier 4 at all. I don't agree that he is a rat though. Rats are vermin and carry disease.
